Lady Lions capture
3rd straight spring title

     DENVILLE - It's three in a row for the Lady Lions ... a three-peat.
The Lady Lions U12 traveling soccer team won its third straight Morris County Youth Soccer Association spring championship this past season, finishing the Morris County Youth Soccer Association schedule with a record of seven wins, two losses and one tie to win the Flight 4 championship.
The Lions ended their season on a winning note, beating the Roxbury Twisters, 5-1, at Horseshoe Lake Park in the Sussasunna section of Roxbury Township on Wednesday, June 24.
The Lady Lions  got a first-half goal from Taylor Latorre less than two minutes into the game and then Juliana Urban, Jamie Barrett, Christina DiGiovanna and Michelle D'Alessio scored second-half goals to complete the victory.
Urbans goal, which proved to be the game-winner, came about when she rebounded her own penalty kick attempt and sent the ball past the Roxbury goaltender and into the back of the net.
Catie Owen was in goal for the Lady Lions and she finished with nine saves.
Owen got plenty of help from a defense led by Nicole Krysa, Courtney Knudsen, Shayna McMahon, Stephanie Harris, Keira White and Taylor Good.
The Lady Lions allowed only nine goals and four of their seven wins were shutouts during their 10-game spring season.
The Lady Lions resume play in the MCYSA this coming fall.
