    ROCKAWAY TWP. - The Rockaway Township Knights 12U travel team broke a 6-6 tie with a five-run outburst in the top of the sixth inning and went on to an 11-6 victory over Tri-Boro in an Off The Bench Baseball League regular-season finale played at Anderson Field in Bloomingdale on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
    The victory gave the Knights a record of 7-3 and a No. 4 seed in the league's single-elimination playoffs that are scheduled to start this weekend. The Knights will face No. 5 Hopatcong.
    Seth Berkin got the Knights sixth-inning rally started by drawing a leadoff walk. Justin Kaufman followed with a single and Andrew Trujillo drove in Berkin with a double to break the tie.
    Jordan Cohen gave the Knights a pair of insurance runs when he followed with a triple to bring in Kaufman and Trujillo. Cohen would have scored on the play but he stumbled after rounding third and was tagged out at the plate.
    Eric Gribbons kept the inning alive with a double and Connor Callahan walked. After a double steal, Ryan Lee's sacrifice fly brings home Gribbons to make it 10-6 and Callahan, who had also moved up a base on Lee's flyout, stole home for the game's final run.
    The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Callahan doubled, stole third and scored on an error.
    A four-run flurry in the top of the third made it 5-0 with Gribbons driving in two runs with a single and Callahan and Lee adding RBI singles.
    Tri-Boro scored five times in the bottom of the fourth to tie the score; the Knights went ahead 6-5 on Lee's RBI single in the top of the fifth and, after Tri-Boro scored again to tie the game at 6-6, the Knights erupted with their big inning.
    Callahan led the Knights' 13-hit attack by going 3-for-3 a walk, one RBI, three stolen bases and three runs scored. Lee was 2-for-3 with three RBIs; Gribbons was 2-for-4 with a double two RBIs and three runs scored; Trujillo was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored; Travis Ardin was 2-for-4 with a double; Cohen finished 1-for-3 with a walk, triple, two RBIs and a run scored; Kaufman was 1-for-3 with a run scored; and Nieman drew a walk in three trips.
    Ardin, Drew Frommelt and Callahan did the pitching for the Knights with Callahan getting the win by pitching the last three innings.

Knights 18-hit attack beats Jefferson, 18-8
    ROCKAWAY TWP. -
The Rockaway Township Knights 12U travel team bounced back from a pair of shutout losses with a 19-hit attack that produced an 18-8 victory over Jefferson in an Off The Bench Baseball League game played at Jefferson on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
    Seth Berkin, Ryan Lee, Connor Callahan and Travis Ardin each got three hits and Brent Costantino powered a three-run home run as the Knights (6-3) scored at least two runs in every inning except one in the six-inning game.
    An RBI double by Berkin and a sacrifice fly by Lee gave the Knights a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and, when Jefferson came back in its half of the inning to score three runs for a 3-2 advantage, the Knights scored three times in the top of the second to take a lead it never lost.
    Billy Nieman and Ardin led off the inning with back-to-back doubles for two runs with Ardin scoring on an error. Drew Frommelt followed with a single, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Jerry Katz.
    The Knights made it 10-3 in the top of the third when Jordan Cohen walked, Berkin singled and Costantino hit a first-pitch home run to right-center. Singles by Lee, Callahan and Ardin loaded the bases for Frommelt and Frommelt drove in two more runs with a single.
    After a scoreless fourth inning, the Knights added three more runs in the fifth on Lee's RBI double, Callahan's RBI single and an error. In the sixth, the Knights scored five more runs on Lee's two-run double, RBI singles by Callahan and Berkin and an RBI groundout by Eric Gribbons.
    Lee finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, a sac fly, four RBIs and three runs scored; Berkin was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored; Callahan was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored; and Ardin finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
    Frommelt was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; Katz was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; Costantino was 1-for-2 with his three-run homer, two walks and three runs scored; Nieman finished 1-for-4 with a double and run scored; Justin Kaufman was 1-for-3 with a run scored; and Gribons had an RBI.
    Berkin, the first of three Knight pitchers got the win, working three innings and giving up four runs (all earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out one. Ardin threw two innings giving up a run (earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out three and Nieman finished up, allowing three runs (all unearned) on two hies, two walks while striking out two.
    The Knights ran into some top-notch pitching in two earlier league games, being held to two hits in a 12-0 loss to Vernon at Marcella Field in the township on Sunday, May 22, and getting but three hits in losing a 2-0 pitching duel to Andover at Peterson Field in the township on Sunday, May 15.
    Against Vernon, Gribbons had a hit and stole two bases while Nieman had the other hit. Callahan and Frommelt did the pitching for Knights.
    Callahan and Andrew Trujillo combined on a seven-hitter in the loss to Andover. Callahan worked four innings and gave up a run (earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out six and Trujillo pitched two innings and gave up one run (earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out three.
    Lee, Nieman and Kaufman got the hits for the Knights.

Cohen, Callahan, Katz key 18-0 win over Par-Troy

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Jordan Cohen, Connor Callahan and Jerry Katz each had three hits and combined for nine RBIs when the Rockaway Township Knights 12U travel baseball team pounded out 22 hits on its way to an 18-0 victory over Par Troy in an Off The Bench League game played at Parsippany on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
    Cohen was 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBIs and a run scored; Callahan was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored; and Katz was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Knights (5-1) in the game that was shortened to four innings because of the league's mercy rule.
    Seth Berkin and Drew Frommelt each pitched two innings and gave up a hit to combine for a two-hit shutout. Berkin struck out one and walked three while Frommelt struck out one and walked none.
    After a scoreless first inning, the Knights scored 10 runs in the top of the second, added two more in the third, and finished with a six-run flurry in the top of the fourth inning.
    Berkin's two-run single; Andre Trujillo's two-run double; and Jordan's two-run triple were the big hits during the inning. Jerry Katz, Eric Gribbons, Travis Ardin, and Callahan each added run-producing hits.
    In the third, Berkin led off with a double; Katz drove him in with a single; and Cohen drove in the second run with his second triple of the game.
    The Knights finished their scoring in the top of the fourth inning when Callahan had an RBI double, Frommelt had a run-producing groundout; Justin Kaufman singled in a run; Trujillo singled in another run; and Cohen singled in the final two runs of the inning.
    Gribbons was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored; Brent Costantino was 1-for-3 with a run scored; Ryan Lee finished 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored; Travis Ardin was 1-for-3 with an RBI; Frommelt was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored; Berkin finished 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored; Kaufman was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; and Trujillo was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored.

Knights lose first of season on Byram's four-run 5th
    ROCKAWAY TWP. - The Rockaway Township Knights 12U travel baseball team lost is first game of the season when Byram rallied for four fifth-inning runs and held on for a 10-9 victory in an Off The Bench League game played at Peterson Field here on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
    The Knights (4-1) broke out to a 2-0 first-inning lead when Ryan Lee singled in Eric Gribons and Brent Costantino, both of whom singled to get on base. The lead became 3-0 in the second when Billy Nieman led off with a double, took third when Andre Trujillo flied out, and scored on a bunt single by Jerry Katz.
    Byramn took the lead at 6-3 by scoring six times in the top of the third inning and the Knights got a run back in their half of the inning on Ryan Lee's RBI single.
    The Knights bolted out to a 9-6 lead in the bottom of the fourth when they scored five times. Consecutive singles by Nieman, Trujillo, Katz and Jordan Cohen brought home the first run; Gribbons followed with a two-run single; and Costantino tripled to bring in Cohen and Gribbons.
    After Byram took its 10-9 lead in the top of the fifth, the Knights were held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings and Byram was able to hold on to its one-run victory.
    Gribbons finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Costantino was 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored as the Knights outhit Byram, 16-10.
    Lee was 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored; Callahan was 2-for-3; Nieman was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored; Trujillo was 1-for-3 with a run scored; Katz was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; and Cohen finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Ardin 5 RBIs help Knight sweep Sparta

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Travis Ardin was 3-for-7 with five RBIs when the Rockaway Township Knights 12U travel team swept Sparta, 6-0 and 11-2, in an Off The Bench Baseball League doubleheader played at Peterson Field in the township on Sunday, April 17, 2011.

    Ardin was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead a five-hit attack in the opener and had a two-run double and a run scored in the nightcap.
    Seth Berkin and Connor Callahan combined on a two-hitter in the opener. Berkin pitched four innings of two-hit ball with three strikeouts and three walks and Callahan struck out five and walked two in the two hitless innings he worked.
    The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead when Ryan Lee drove in a run with a groundout and Drew Frommelt added an RBI single.
    The Knights made it 3-0 in the second when Andre Trujillo stole home and it became 5-0 in the third when Ardin drove in Callahan and Berkin with a two-run double. Ardin got his final RBI of the day in the fifth inning when he singled home Callahan, who had walked and stolen second.
    The Knights broke open a close second game with eight runs in the fifth inning. Justin Kaufman and Trujillo each had a two-run single in the big inniung; Ryan Lee, Billy Nieman and Frommelt each drew bases-loaded walks to drive in a run; and a run scored when Ardin reached on an error.
    Earlier, Ardin hit his second two-run double of the day in the first inning, driving in Callahan who had doubled and Berkin who had walked. After Sparta tied it up, the Knights took a 3-0 lead in the third inning when Eric Gribbons doubled, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
    Callahan was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Kaufman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Knights' eight-hit attack in the second game.

  
 Frommelt and Ardin did the pitching in the second game, Frommelt working four three-hit innings of shutout ball with five strikeouts and Ardin giving up two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out four.

Grand Slams by Ardin, Gribbron key 11-2 victory

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Travis Ardin and Eric Gribbons hit bases-loaded home runs during a 10-run second inning when the Rockaway Township Knights U12 travel baseball team defeated Kittatinny, 11-2, in an Off The Bench Baseball League game played at Kittatinny on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
    The win was the second in as many days for the Knights, who opened the 2011 season a day earlier with a 6-4 victory over Hopatcong at Hopatcong.
    Gribbons opened the Knights 10-run inning with a single and, after Drew Frommelt and Justin Kaufman walked to load the bases, Gribbons scored on a wild pitch. Bill Nieman followed with another walk to reload the bases and Ardin followed with his grand slam over the left field fence to give the Knights a 5-0 lead.
    Andre Trujillo followed Ardin's blast with a walk and, after Seth Berkin singled, Trujillo stole third before scoring on a wild pitch. Ryan Lee and Conner Callahan each drew walks to load the bases again and Gribbons followed with a line drive deep into the right field corner that enabled him to circle the bases for an inside-the-park grand slam.
    The Knights scored the final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning when Nieman led off with a single, Jerry Katz followed with a single, Trujillo walked to load the bases and Nieman scored when Berkin hit into a forceout.
    Lee, Ardin and Kaufman shared the pitching duties, each working two innings. Lee started and gave up two hits and one run (unearned) with one strikeout and no walks; Ardin followed with two innings of two-hit ball, giving up a run (earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out two; and Kaufman finished by working two inning of one-hit scoreless ball with two strikeouts and one walk.
    Gribbons was 2-for-3 to lead the Knights' seven-hit attack. Berkin, Callahan, Nieman, Katz and Ardin had the other hits.

Frommelt 3 RBIs, Nieman 2 RBIs lead Knights in opener
    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Drew Frommelt drove in three runs and Bill Nieman added two RBIs when the Rockaway Township Knights U12 travel baseball team used a three-run sixth inning to beat Hopatcong, 6-4, in an Off The Bench Baseball League opening-day game played at Hopatcong on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
    Trailing 1-0 going into the top of the fourth, Brent Costantino reached on and error and Ryan Lee singled for the Knights. Connor Callahan and Frommelt each followed with RBI singles and Nieman drove in a run on a fielder's choice to give the Knights a 3-1 lead.
    Hopatcong answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the score and took a 4-3 lead with a single run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
    In the top of the sixth, Lee singled, Callahan doubled him to third and, after Gribbons rfeached on an error to load the bases, Frommelt followed with a two-run double to right to score Lee and Callahan and Nieman followed with an RBI single to bring in Gribbons with an insurance run.
    Costantino, Callahan and Andre Trujillo each worked two innings to share the pitching duties for the Knights.
    Costantino started and gave up a run (earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out three; Callahan gave up tgwo runs (both earned) on two hits, three walks while striking out two; and Trujillo closed out the game by giving up a run (unearned) on two hits while striking out three and walking none.
    Frommelt, Lee and Callahan each had two hits to lead the Knights' nine-hit attack. Frommelt was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs; Lee was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored; and Callahan was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and tgwo runs scored.
    Costantino was 1-for-3 with a run scored; Nieman was 1-for-3 with his two RBIs; and Katz was 1-for-3 to account for the rest of the Knights' hits.
