On The Mat: Morris Knolls finished in a tie for second place with Parsippany in the team standings of the Parsippany Christmas Wrestling Tournament at Parsippany High School on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

The Eagles had three champions and four runnersup in the competition.

 

Morris Knolls 119-pounder Adam Ramadan works Jeff Nichols of Wayne Valley during their championship bout at the Parsippany Christmas Tournamentt. Ramadan won, 6-4, in overtime.

Morris Knolls Jan Rosenberg controls Parsippany's Sam Kovacs during their title bout at 103. Rosenberg won with a third-period pin 5:08.

Steve McKowen of Morris Knolls controls Jason Zuninga of Wayne Valley in their title match at 125. McKowen became the Eagles' third champion when he pinned Zuninga in 1:54.

Luke Homeijer of Morris Knolls (left) and Eddie DiLaura of Boonton had a good go at each other in the 189 final with DiLaura coming out on top, 5-4, for the title.

 of Wayne Valley in their title bout. Katerji won with a pin.

Kevin Weis, Knolls' 152-pounder, won this semifinal match but became the Eagles' fourth runnerup when he lost a 1-0 decision to Nick Kromka of Parsippany in the title bout.

The seven Morris Knolls High School wrestlers who reached the championship bouts  of the Parsippany Christmas Wrestling Tournament at Parsippany High School on Wednesday, Dec. 30 strike a pose: In front, Jan Rosenberg, 103 champ; standing, left to right: Steven McKowen, 125 champ; Kevin Weis, 152 runnerup; Adam Ramadan, 119 champ; Steve Lane, 215 runnerup; heavyweight Joe Flora, runnerup; and Luke Homeijer, 189 runnerup. Knolls finished in a tie for second with the host Parsippany club with Wayne Valley taking the team title.
