Somogyi 10th goal of season

DENVILLE - Kyle Somogyi, Caleb Tomkins, Marek Kosiorolski and Kyle Wilson scored the goals and Bryce Mott stopped everything he saw in goal as the Denville HUB Soccer Wheels 10U boys travel soccer team defeated Mountain Lakes in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association (MCYSA) game played at Mountain Lakes on Sunday, June 20.
The victory gave the Wheels a final record of 4-3-3, good enough for a third-place finish in their age group in Flight 4 of the MCYSA spring league.
Somogyi scored his 10th goal of the season unassisted from eight yards out for the only goal of the first half.
Early in the second half, Tomkins scored his first goal of the season when his lofted shot from 15 yards out went in just over the Mountain Lakes' goaltender.
Erich Frie initiated the Wheels' next goal, moving upfield after an aggressive steal of the ball and finding Kosiorolski for the goal that gave the Wheels a 3-0 lead.
Wilson ended the scoring for the game and the season when broke loose on an unassisted run and scored when his straight-away shot eluded the Lakers' keeper.

Somogyi scores lone goal in 2-1 loss to West Jersey
DENVILLE - A penalty-shot goal and a breakaway goal - both in the second half - were enough for the West Jersey Wanderers as they defeated the Denville HUB Soccer Wheels U10 boys travel team, 2-1, in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association game played in Washington Township on Sunday, May 23.
Denville got its goal in the second half when Kyle Somogyi scored.
Although there was no scoring, there was plenty of on-field action in the first half as both teams threatened.
Wheels goalie Bryce Mott turned back all five shots he faced and the Denville defensive effort anchored by Jon Monaco, Eric Frie and Brian Gaffney repeatedly turned back several potential scoring opportunities by the Wanderers.
The Wheels' best shot of the half came with minutes to play before the break when Kyle Wilson got behind the defense on a breakaway only to have his shot at the West Jersey goal hit the right goal post.
The Wanderers broke the scoring drought in the 47th minute of play by converting a penalty kick after the Wheels were called for a hand ball in the penalty box.
Five minutes later, the Wanderers made it 2-0 on a breakaway goal.
Somogyi scored in the 60th minute when his unassisted goal found the top left corner of the West Jersey net.

Somogyi hat trick, Rand goal beat Mtn. Lakes, 4-2
DENVILLE - Kyle Somogyi scored a three-goal hat trick and Josh Rand scored the go-ahead goal as the Denville HUB Soccer Wheels U10 boys travel team defeated the Mountain Lakes Lightning, 4-2, in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association game played at Mountain Lakes on Sunday, May 9.
Somogyi broke a scoreless tie when he took a pass from Pierce Rankin and scored his first goal at the 24-minute mark for the only score of the first half.
Somogyi made it 2-0 at the 40-minute mark with Ian Beumee getting the assist.
The game was a lively game with plenty of end-to-end action by both teams and Mountain Lakes broke through for its only two goals in a four-minute span when the Lightning scored at the 47th- and 51st-minute mark to tie the game at 2-2.
Three minutes later, Rand scored what proved to be the game-winner when his long-range shot found the left corner of the Mountain Lakes net for an unassisted goal to give the Wheels a 3-2 lead.
In the 57th minute, Somogyi completed his hat trick with another assist by Pierce Rankin.

Wheels win top Devils, 2-0; tie Lightning, 1-1
DENVILLE - Close games were the order of the weekend for the Denville HUB Wheels U10 boys travel team as Denville beat the Morris United Devils, 2-0, in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association makeup game on Friday, April 30, and then battled to a 1-1 tie with the Mountain Lakes Lightning on Sunday, May 2, in the regularly scheduled game.
Marek Kosiorowski gave the Wheels a 1-0 lead over the Devils in the 22nd minute of their game when he scored after taking a centering feed from Josh Rand.
The game remained 1-0 in favor of the Wheels until the 59th minute when Kyle Somogyi scored off a corner from Jon Monaco.
Bryce Mott stopped all eight shots he faced to get credit for the shutout.
On Sunday, the Wheels found themselves trailing, 1-0, when Mountain Lakes scored on a breakaway in the 23rd minute of play. Both teams has good scoring chances for the rest of the half but solid play by both keepers and their defenders in front of them kept the game 1-0.
In the second half, with both defenses still holding the upper hand, the Wheels' Pierce Rankin sent Kyle Somogyi in on a breakaway and Somogyi scored the only other goal of the game in the 54th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
Mott had another solid game in goal with 13 saves.

Wheels open with tie on Kosiorowski's goal
DENVILLE - Marek Kosiorowski's goal with a minute left in the first half gave the Denville HUB Wheels U10 boys a 1-1 tie in their Morris County Youth Association 2010 spring opener against the Ringwood Raiders in a game played at Ryerson Field in Ringwood on Sunday, April 11.
Kosiorowski's goal came in the 29th minute of the game with Josh Rand providing the assist with a pass from the right side.
Ringwood got its goal in the second half, scoring on a breakaway in the 42nd minute of play.
The Wheels had several good scoring chances late in the game but could not find the back of the net.
Bryce Mott stopped all six shots in faced in the first half, several of them from point-blank range. Ian Beumee had the keeper duties in the second half and finished with three saves.
