Game Day: The Thomas Jefferson Middle School softball team scored four times in the final inning to beat Mountain Lakes, 9-8, in it opener but has gone on to lose its next two.

     ROCKAWAY - The Thomas Jefferson Middle School softball team opened its spring season with a 9-8 victory over Mountain Lakes but then lost its next two games and the Lady Rams now stand at 1-2 for the season.
      The games to date:
      TJ 9, Mountain Lakes 8 - Elizabeth Ertle drove in the winning run as the Lady Rams scored four times in the seventh and final inning to escape with the one-run victory in the season opener on Tuesday, April 13. Trailing 8-5 going into the seventh, TJ took advantage of six walks before Ertle ended the game with her winning hit. Ertle finished the game with two hits while Kayla Fleming and Bonnie Smith each had one hit. Theresa Wagner got the win, pitching  a complete-game three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
      Valleyview 13, TJ 1 - The Lady Rams were held to two hits - singles by Hailey Renauer and Kayla Fleming - as Valleyview scored five runs in the first inning to take a lead it never lost in a game played on Thursday, April 15. Theresa Wagner and Frankie Perna pitched for TJ.
      Riverdale 15, TJ 4 - Thomas Jefferson fell to 1-2 with a 15-4 loss to Riverdale on Thursday, April 22. Theresa Wagner's two-run double in the first inning gave TJ a 2-1 lead.
