ROCKAWAY TWP. - The Rockaway Township American will open play in the 2011 Rockaway Township Summer Baseball Tournament on Monday, June 27, with a 6 p.m. game against the Hanover Township A team at Marcella Field here in the township.
    The team of 11- and 12-year olds will play an eight-game schedule against teams from Wharton, Hanover Township, Dover, Roxbury, Sparta, Morristown and the Tri-Town (Mountain Lakes, Boonton and Boonton Township) area.
    All games in the tournament will be played at Peterson-1, Peterson-2 and Marcella fields.
    RTA is managed by Art Cougle with Alan Botwinick and Lee Kipp as the team's coaches.
    The players include Joe Berkowitz, John Boss, Jake Cougle, Derek Ferguson, Joey Gonzalez, Evan Kipp, Robert Lenahan, Ryan O'Neill, Derek Sainz, Jason Botwinick, Justin Laufer and Dean Malaik.
