in poor weather conditions

ROCKAWAY TWP. - The Phillies and Astros battled through the un-springlike temperatures and blustery winds in a Rockaway Township Little League AAA-Division game at Marcella Field on Thursday, April 21, 2011, with the Phillies coming out on top by a 13-6 score.
"Everybody played exceptionally well in spite of the weather conditions," said Phillies manager Sammy Calafiore after the game. "Every Phillie batter reached base at least once and the Astros got some nice hits, too."
Phillies' hitting highlights included: Luke Davidson leading off the game with a single and eventually driven in by George Gallini and Ben Philhower legging out a base hit in the top of the second inning, allowing Josh Calafiore to score.
As for Phillies' pitching: Brock Nienhouse worked 2.2 no-hit, no-run innings; Dan Philhower struck out two in 1.1 innings of relief; and Jackson Tencza finished the game with two strikeouts.
Defensively, Sean Bruseo caught four innings and picked off a runner at third to halt a second-inning Astro rally; leftfielder Joseph Zimmer made a strong throw to third baseman Colin Sweeney to nail an Astro runner; shortstop Jaden Buckner made a heads-up play when he tagged out an Astro runner who had overrun second base; and Sweeney came close to a highlight-reel play when he just missed a diving attempt at a foul ball wide of third.
For the Astros, Tom Griese drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double and Nick Zullo also doubled, lining a shot to straight-away center.
