ROCKAWAY TWP. - The A's scored two runs without the benefit of a hit and John Opalewski slammed a home run for the A's only hit of the game in a 3-1 victory over the Orioles in a Rockaway Township Little League Majors game played at Peterson Field on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
Justin Miller started for the Orioles and went 3.2 innings with eight strikeouts before Chris Fritz came in and got the final out of the fourth inning before the game was halted by rain.
The A's scored single runs the first and second innings without getting a hit and Opalewski hit his home run in the third inning.
The Orioles scored in the bottom of the first inning when Fritz doubled and eventually scored when Miller grounded out.
Derek Lee pitched all four innings for the A's, giving up one run on four hits.
"The game was well-played by both sides considering the rain," said Orioles manager Art Cougle after the game. "Both sides played well on defense in spite of the weather and field conditions."
