2010 SEASON Green defeats Black, 9-7,
in RockDen season finale

ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades 7th/8th Black and Green teams completed their spring schedule by playing each other with Green breaking a 3-3 halftime tie and moving out to a 9-7 victory over Black in a girls youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Fields in Denville on Wednesday, June 16. Stephanie Sihlanick's goal early in the second half gave the Green team a 4-3 lead, a lead that it never lost the rest of the way. Molley Reichhard scored two goals for Green, which also got single goals from Denise Weir, Siera Kroeter, Sarah Parente, Amanda Slomkowski, Kyleigh Miller and Nicole Krysa. Kelly Dzialo, Sihlanick and Parent each had assists for the Green. Candi Tanis and Shayna McMahon split the goaltending duties for Green and the pair finished the game with a combined eight saves. Casey Lyness scored two goals for the Lady Renegades Black with Juliet Moor, Erin Curley, Erin Dolan, Leigh Ricciardi and Kaila Fedele each adding one goal. Emily Ambrosi, Kaila Fedele and Nicole Brennan each finished with one assist for the Black and goalie Brianna Valleta was in goal for the entire game and finished with 10 saves. Krysa and Sihlanick's goals were their first of the season for the Green while Moor's goal for the Black was her first career goal in the RockDen program.

Renegades lose to Long Valley, 7-4
ROCKAWAY TWP. - RockDen's Lady Renegades 7th/8th Green, playing without some of its starters and filling in with some 5th/6th graders, lost a close 7-4 decision to a strong Long Valley squad in a youth lacrosse game played at Califon Fields in Long Valley on Saturday, May 22. "The girls played a good game against a very talented Long Valley team," said head coach John Murphy after the game. "We were down by a goal at the half and kept it close in the second half, too." Stephanie Hughes led the scoring for the Lady Renegades, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Amanda Slomkowski, Sarah Parente and Erica Scafati each scored on goal and Candi Tanis finished with two assists and Kristen McCauley added one. Brianna Valletta stopped more than half the shots on goal she faced and finished with nine saves. Next up for the Lady Renegades is a game against Long Hill at Mountain Lakes on Monday, May 24, at 7 p.m. followed by a game Wednesday, May 26, against Franklin Lakes at the Renegades home field on Pocono Road in Denville, also at 7 p.m. --- Lady Renegades second-half rally ties Mtn. Lakes, 6-6 ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades 7th/8th Green fought back from a three-goal halftime deficit to pull out a 6-6 against Mountain Lakes in a youth lacrosse game played at RVA Fields in Boonton Township on Wednesday, May 19. Down 4-1 at the half, RockDen outscored the Lady Lakers 5-2 in the second half to gain the tie. "The team came out storming in the second half," said head coach John Murphy after the game. "They were determined to catch Mountain Lakes and kept pressing right up until the end. "Brianna Valletta was just terrific in goal, keeping her teammates in the game while they were staging their dramatic comeback." Valletta stopped 14 of the 20 shots she faced for an outstanding 70 percent save record for the game. Stephanie Hughes scored two goals as five different Lady Renegades accounted for the six goals. Candi Tanis, Sarah Parente, Molly Reichhard and Tess Fuery each scored one goal. The assists were also spread around as Shanya McMahon, Kelly Dzailo, Kristen McCauley, Erica Scafati, Carly Thomas and Courtney Knudsen each recorded one assist.

Tanis, Cooper, Valletta spark 9-4 victory
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Candi Tanis and Jacie Cooper each scored three goals and RockDen goalie Brianna Valletta finished with 12 saves when the Lady Renegades 7th/8th Green team defeated Vernon, 9-4, in a girls youth lacrosse game played under the lights at Peterson Field on Saturday, May 15. Leigh Riccardi, Brooke Fuertges and Rachel Mills also scored for the Lady Renegades. Erin Curley finished the game with two assists and Taylor Madden, Tracey Scheer, Erica Scarfati, Carley Thomas, Sierra Kroeter and Cooper each had one. The Lady Renegades broke out to a 6-2 lead at the half and then outscored their visitors 3-2 in the second half to create the margin of victory. "Brianna was just outstanding in goal," said Lady Renegades coach John Murphy after the game. "She had a lot of point-blank saves and you could just tell it was frustrating to the Vernon attackers." The Lady Renegades will play Mountain Lake next in a 7 p.m. game scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at Mountain Lakes. ---
Second-half rally falls short in loss to Long Valley
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Down 5-2 at the half, the RockDen Lady Renegades Green 7th/8th grade lacrosse team scored the first three goals of the second half to tie the score only to have Long Valley White answer its own three-goal flurry and then hold on for an 8-5 victory in a game played at Pocono Road Fields in Denville on Saturday, May 1. Stephanie Hughes, Molly Reichhard, Sarah Parente, Candi Tanis and Tess Fuery scored the goals for the Lady Renegades while Kyleigh Miller, Courtney Knudsen, Erica Scarfati, Kelly Dzialo and Hughes each added an assist. RockDen goaltender Carley Thomas played the entire game and recorded 12 saves. --- Lady Renegades bow to Pequannock, 9-8 ROCKAWAY TWP. - In a game that saw the lead change five times, the RockDen Lady Renegades Green 7th/8th grade lacrosse team lost a close and hard-fought 9-8 decision to Pequannock in a game played at Pocono Road Fields in Denville on Saturday, April 24. Stephanie Hughes led the way with two goals and an assist for the Lady Renegades while Molly Reichhard, Candi Tanis, Kyleigh Miller, Kristen McCauley and Carley Thomas each scored one goal. Alana Bichutsky, Amanda Slomkowski, Erica Scarfati, Kelly Dzialo, Nicole Krysa and Tess Fuery each had assists. RockDen goaltender Brianna Valletta finished the game with 12 saves. --- Hughes, Knudsen lift Lady Renegades to win over Kinnelon ROCKAWAY TWP. - Stephanie Hughes scored three goals and Courtney Knudsen added two as the RockDen Lady Renegades Green 7th/8th grade team beat Kinnelon, 8-5, in a game played on Kinnelon Municipal Field in Kinnelon on Wednesday, April 21. Erin Dolan, Candi Tanis and Carly Thomas each added single goals for RockDen. Hughes and Knudsen each had one assist. Brianna Valletta was in goal the entire game for the Lady Renegades and she finished with nine saves.
"Brianna made some key stops for us ... espcially in the second half," said Lady Renegades coach John Murphy. "In fact, we had a great defensive effort all over the field with Nicole Krysa, Dina Cicchine and Shayna McMahon anchoring our defense."
--- Lady Renegades open season with 12-9 loss to Caldwell ROCKAWAY TWP. - Molly Reichhard scored four goals ... Stephanie Hughes added three ... and Sarah Parente scored twice to account for all the goal-scoring as the RockDen Lady Renegades Green 7th/8th grade lacrosse lost its season-opener to Caldwell, 12-9, in a game played at Harrison Field in Caldwell on Saturday, April 17. Caldwell held a 7-3 lead at the half and RockDen had the better of the scoring in the second half as the Lady Renegades outscored Caldwell, 6-5. Courtney Knudsen, Sierra Kroeter, Kelly Dzialo, Kristen McCauley, Shayna McMahon, Liz Stack and Hughes each had one assist for the Lady Renegades. RockDen goalkeeper Brianna Valletta was in goal for the entire game and finished with 10 saves.
