Marvin completes goal 'cycle'

for 4-0 Green at Play Day

      ROCKAWAY TWP. - When Caroline Marvin scored two goals during the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green's 5-1 victory over West Milford at the program's annual youth lacrosse "Play Day" at Pocono Road Fields in Denville on Saturday, June 5, it meant that all 18 girls on the roster had scored at least one goal for the season.
     Ten different players scored goals and nine different players had assists as the Lady Renegades swept through their four 20-minute "mini games" with a perfect 4-0 record, outscoring their opponents, 21-4.
      The Lady Renegades recorded their only shutout of the day in the first game, stopping Caldwell, 4-0, behind the shutout goaltending of Amy Weir, who stopped all five shots she saw.
      Nicole Rizzo scored twice and Carli Cohen and Shannon Treible each added one goal for RockDen. Jenna Gallagher, Kaitlyn Draney and Treible each had assists.
      The Lady Renegades beat Hanover, 6-1, in their second game as Tommi Nelson scored two goals and Jaycie Deangelo, Kellyann Gangaware, Megan McDonnell and Rachel Petruska each scored once. Rizzo had an assist and Weir finished the game with two saves.
      Game No. 3 was a 6-2 victory over Pequannock as Jenna Gallagher scored two goals; Cohen, Deangelo, McDonnell and Rizzo each added a single goal; and Bridget Francisco and McDonnell each finished with an assist. Kaityln Draney was in goal for the Lady Renegades for this game and she finished with five saves.
      In the finale, Marvin scored her first two goals of the season and also picked up an assist in a 5-1 victory over West Milford. Treible also scored two goals and Petruska added a single goal. Weir, Francisco and Deangelo each had an assist. Courtney Miller was in goal and finished with three saves.
      The Lady Renegades will be back in action on Wednesday, June 9, with a 6 p.m. game against Sparta.

Renegades hold on for 12-10 win over Franklin Lakes
      ROCKAWAY TWP
. - Giaci Vitolo scored three goals and Bridget Francisco and Kelly Gangaware each scored twice to lead the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green to a 12-10 victory over Franklin Lakes in a youth lacrosse game played at the Municipal Fields in Franklin Lakes on Thursday, June 3.
      The Lady Renegades held an 8-3 lead at the half and then had to hold off a Franklin Lakes rally in the second half to escape with the two-goal victory.
      Tommi Nelson, Carli Cohen, Nicole Rizzo, Rachel Petruska and Shannon Treible each had one goal for the Lady Renegades.
      Nelson finished with three assists; Gangaware had two; and Megan McDonnell, Francisco, Vitolo and Petruska each had one.
      Kaitlyn Draney and Amy Weir split the goaltending duties for the Lady Renegades and finished the game with a combined seven saves.

Lady Renegades hold off Long Hill rally to win, 8-7

       ROCKAWAY TWP. - Bridget Francisco and Giaci Vitolo each scored two goals and Amy Weir had a big second half in goal when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green held off Long Hill, 8-7, in a youth lacrosse game played at Morris Knolls High School in Denville on Monday, May 24.
      RockDen took a 5-2 lead at the half and then had to hold off a determined Long Hill team when it picked up its pace on offense to outscore the Lady Renegades 5-3 in the second half of play.
      Weir made eight saves in the second half after Kaitlyn Draney finished the first half with three saves.
      Carlie Cohen, Nicole Rizzo, Tommi Nelson and Draney each scored one goal for the Lady Renegades while Courtney Miller and Francisco each finished with an assist.
      The Lady Renegades are back in action on Thursday, May 27, with a 7 p.m. home game against Franklin Lakes at Pocono Road Field in Denville.

Offense, defense solid in 9-5 wi over Long Valley

      ROCKAWAY TWP. - With both the offense and defense playing solid games, the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green jumped took a five-goal halftime lead and held on for a 9-5 victory over Long Valley in a youth lacrosse game played at Califon Field in Long Valley on Saturday, May 22.
      Seven different players accounted for the nine goals as Giaci Vitolo and Rachel Petruska each scored twice and Carli Cohen, Courtney Miller, Nicole Rizzo, Shannon Treible and Tommi Nelson each scored one goal for the Lady Renegades.
      Petruska also added two assists and Commie Musser, Kellyann Gangware, Vitolo, Rizzo, Petruska and Nelson each added one assist.
      Kaitlyn Daly had a busy but very successful day in goal as she finished the game with 14 saves.
      "It was a huge game on all fronts ... both the offense and defense were clicking," said head coach Scott Weir after the game. "We spread the ball around well on offense and Amy Weir, Caroline Marvin and Jenna Gallagher had solid games on defense.
      "Kaitlyn had a tremendous sequence of saves where she stopped one shot and then knocked away three more that followed almost instantly before we could control a rebound. And her ability to clear the ball to the center line line with accuracy got our offense going, too."
      The Lady Renegades next game is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, at Morris Knolls High School at 6 p.m.

Nine Renegades score in 13-3 win over Mtn. Lakes

     ROCKAWAY TWP. - Nine different Lady Renegades scored goals and Kaitlyn Draney held Mountain Lakes to three goals in  RockDen 5th/6th Green team's 13-3 victory on Saturday, May 15, in a youth lacrosse game played at Peterson Field in the township.
 Draney finished the game with 10 saves, three in the first half when Mountain Lakes scored but one goal.
 Giaci Vitolo, Kellyann Gangaware, Nicole Rizzo and Rachel Petruska each had two goals for RockDen while Carli Cohen, Courtney Miller, Jenna Gallagher, Jessica Nider and Megan McDonnell each added one goal with Miller's goal her first of the season.
      Corrine Musser, Tommi Nelson, Miller, Gangaware and Draney each had assists.
      Draney's rare goalie assist came on Gangaware's goal. Draney knocked away a shot on goal and made another save on the rebound before clearing the ball to Gangaware out near the center line. Gangaware then took the ball the rest of the way and scored.
     "Overall, we had 12 different players score points for us today," said assistant coach Ken Marvin after the game. "The girls play well as a team and like to share the ball and it pays off in goals.
      "Our starting defense - Jenna Gallagher, J.C. Deangelo and Caroline Marvin - also played a big role in the victory, as they do in all our games. All in all, this team played a near-perfect game with their passing and catching game, ground balls, and overall control of the ball."
      The Lady Renagades will play Long Valley on Saturday, May 22, in a 1 p.m. game at Califon Park in Long Valley.

Lady Renegades defeat West Milford, 10-4

      ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green team defeated West Milford, 10-4, in a youth lacrosse game played at Farrell Field in West Milford on Tuesday, May 11.
     Amy Weir, Nicole Rizzo, Rachel Petruska and Tommi Nelson each scored two goals for RockDen while Jenna Gallagher and Kellyann Gangaware each scored one.
     Petruska finished the game with two assists and Gangaware, Rizzo and Nelson each had one.
      Weir was in goal for the first half and stopped four shots; Miller was the goalkeeper in the second half and she finished with two saves.

Vitolo's 4 goals help beat Caldwell, 10-5

     ROCKAWAY TWP. - Giaci Vitolo's four goals sparked the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green team to a 10-5 victory over Caldwell in a youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Saturday, May 8.
     Six different Green players scored goals as Tommi Nelson added two goals and Carli Cohen, Corrine Musser, Megan McDonnell and Rachel Petruska each added one goal. For Musser and McDonnell, their goals were their first in the RockDen program.
     Caroline Marvin, Nicole Rizzo, Musser, Petruska and Nelson each added assists.
     Kaitlyn Draney and Amy Weir shared the goaltending duties for RockDen with Draney stopping four shots on goal in the first half and Weir finishing with seven saves in the second half.
     The Green team's next game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th against West Milford at West Milford at 6:15 p.m.

Lady Renegades bow to Chatham, 11-8
     ROCKAWAY TWP. -
The RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green team was held to one second-half goal as Chatham rallied for an 11-8 victory in a youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Field in Denville on Friday, May 7.
     The Lady Renegades took a 7-4 halftime lead before Chatham rallied with seven goals in the second half to secure the victory.
     Carli Cohen and Kellyann Gangaware each scored twice for RockDen while Andreya Pencak, Carli Cohen, Nicole Rizzo and Tommi Nelson each add a single goal. Pencak's goal was her first as a Lady Renegade.
     Nelson also got two assists during the game while Jaycie Deangelo, Kaitlyn Draney and Gangaware each had one.
     Draney was in goal the entire game and, along with her rare goaltender's assist, finished with eight saves.

Vitolo's three-goal hat trick sparks RockDen to 5-4 win
      ROCKAWAY TWP. -
Giaci Vitolo scored three goals and Kellyann Gangaware and Rachel Petruska each added on as  RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Green squad edged Montville, 5-4, in a youth lacrosse game played at Dawson Field in Montville on Wednesday, May 5.
      The Lady Renegades held a 4-3 lead at the halftime break and the defenses and goalies stepped up in the second half as each team was able to score only once.
      Kaitlyn Draney, Gangaware and Petruska each had an assist during the game.
      Amy Weir was in goal the entire game and her nine total saves and strong second-half play contributed to the victory.

Petruska scores 3 goals in 6-5 loss to Vernon

      ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades Green 5th/6th grade team lost a hard-fought 6-5 decision to Vernon in a youth lacrosse game played at Vernon on Tuesday, May 4.
      Rachel Petruska' three-goal hat trick led the scoring for the Lady Renegades, who were tied 3-3 at the half only to be outscored 3-2 during the second half as Vernon secured its margin of victory.
      Kellyann Gangaware had a goal and an assist for the Lady Renegades; Shannon Treible finished with a goal; and Giaci Vitolo added an assist to complete RockDen's scoring.
     Kaitlyn Draney was in goal for the Lady Renegades and she finished the game with six saves.

Lady Renegades defeat Long Valley, 14-7
     ROCKAWAY TWP
. - Six difference players each scored two goals as the RockDen Lady Renegades Green 5th/6th grade team defeated Long Valley, 14-7, in a youth lacrosse game played at Hudsonia Field here on Saturday, May 1.
     The Lady Renegades opened up a 7-2 lead a the half and then went on to outscore the visitors 7-5 in the second half to secure the victory.
     Bridget Francisco and Rachel Petruska each had two goals and an assist and Carli Cohen, Giaci Vitolo, Kellyann Gangaware and Tommi Nelson also each had two goals in the game. Nicole Rizzo added a single goal.
     Kaitlyn Draney was in goal for the entire game and finished with 12 saves.
