Lady Renegades go 2-1-1
in the 'Play Day' games

ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold finished 2-1-1 at the Renegades Play Day held on Saturday, June 4, at the Pocono Road Fields in Denville.
With teams playing 20-minute "mini-games" throughout the day, the Lady Renegades opened with a 4-4 tie with Sparta; nipped Caldwell, 6-5; beat Hanover, 4-2; and lost to Kinnelon, 4-1, in their final game of the day.
Against Sparta, Tracy Sherr scored two goals and Gabby Dwyer and Sarah Walsh each added one. Hannah Whelchel was in goal for the Lady Renegades and finished with four saves.
Sherr scored three goals in the win over Caldwell while Julia Buckingham added two goals and Walsh scored a single goal. Kate Dwyer was in goal for the game and she finished with six saves.
Danielle Willis and Buckingham each scored two goals in the win over Hanover. Whelchel was back in goal and she had seven saves for the game.
In the finale, Sherr scored the Lady Renegades only goal and Dwyer finished with seven saves.
The Lady Renegades play their last game of the season on Wednesday, June 9, when they take on Sparta in a 6 p.m. home game at the Pocono Road Fields in Denville.

Renegades, Franklin Lakes in 9-9 standoff
ROCKAWAY TWP. - In a game where neither team got more than a one-goal lead - or held it for long - the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold and Franklin Lakes battled to a 9-9 tie in a youth lacrosse game played at the Franklin Lakes Municipal Field on Thursday, June 3.
The score was tied at 6-6 at the half and then both teams added three goals in a tightly played second half.
Tracy Sherr scored three goals and Kelsey Dugan and Gabby Dwyer each scored twice to lead the Lady Renegades. Rachel Mills added a goal and an assist and Danielle Willis also had a single goal to complete the scoring for RockDen.
Kate Dwyer was in goal for RockDen the entire game and she finished with nine saves, eight in the second half.
The Lady Renegades next game will be at the Renegades annual PlayDay on Saturday, June 5, at Pocono Fields in Denville. The 5th/6th grade team will play four 20-minute "mini-games" between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. against out-of-town competition.

Goals by Sherr, Dugan, Clark spark 13-6 win
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr, Shaye Clark and Kelsey Dugan each had miltiple-goal games when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold defeated Kittatinny, 13-6, in a youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Tuesday, May 25.
Sherr scored four goals; Clark added three; and Dugan finished with two goals. Julia Bujckingham, Shannon Turer, Danielle Willis and Gabby Dwyer each finished with one goal.
Ally Rice got the Lady Renegades' only assist for the game, a "... perfect pass to Shaye Clark in the secocnd half," according to head coach Marc Sherr.
Hannah Whelchel spent the entire game in goal for RockDen and finished with nine saves.
"Once again, Hannah was very strong in goal for us," said Sherr after the game. "And Fiona Backe had a big hand in the win, too, as she led the team in groundballs with six ... it seemed as if she was everywhere."
The next game for the Lady Renegades is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, a 6 p.m. contest against Franklin Lakes at the Pocono Road Field in Denville.

Passing attack, teammwork lead to 13-4 victory
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Twelve different players scored at least one goal or had an assist when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold defeated Montville, 13-4, in a youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Monday, May 24.
Tracy Sherr scored three goals; Kelsey Dugan, Julia Buckingham and Rachel Mills each scored twice; and Shaylyn Clavell, Danielle Willis, Gabby Dwyer and Emily Blum each finished with one goal. Clavell's goal was her first as a Renegade.
Shaye Clark had two assists and Kristen Cefaloni, Hannah Whelchel, Fiona Backe, Buckingham, Blum Willis, Clavell, Dugan, and Mills each had one assist.
Kate Dwyer was in goal the entire game and she finished with four saves - two in each half.
"Our offense was very solid tonight," said head Marc Sherr after the game. "We had some excellent passing with a lot of assists ... it's great to see the girls passing so well and demonstrating such solid teamwork."
The Lady Renegades' next game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, a 7 p.m. contest against Kittatinny at the Pocono Road Field.

Sherr hat trick helps beat Mtn. Lakes
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr scored a three-goal hat trick and Kelsey Dugan, Rachel Mills and Danielle each scored three goals as the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold team beat Mountain Lakes, 13-7, in a youth girls lacrosse game played at the RVA Fields in Boonton Township on Thursday, May 20.
Hannah Whelchel and Sarah Walsh each had a goal and an assist; Julia Buckingham and Shay Clark each had single goals; and Gaby Dwyer had an assist to complete the Lady Renegade scoring.
Kate Dwyer was in goal for the entire game for RockDen and finished with nine saves.

Lady Renegades survive Pequannock rally, 11-10
ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades Gold 5th-6th grade girls travel team held off a second-half rally by Pequannock to escape with an 11-10 victory in a youth lacrosse game played at Greenview Fields in Pequannock on Wednesday, May 19.
RockDen held an 8-5 lead at the half, but Pequannock had a 5-3 edge in goals in the second half to pull to within a goal before time ran out on the comeback bid..
Tracy Sherr scored four goals, Danielle Willis added three and Rachel Mills finished with two goals and an assist to spark the Lady Renegades’ attack.
Morgan Mahon and Gaby Dwyer each added single goals and Shannon Turer finished with two assists.
Hannah Whelchel was in goal for the Lady Renegades and she finished with nine saves, six in the second half when Pequannock stepped up its offensive pressure.
Allie Rice, Julie Buckingham and Turer each finished with a team-high two groundballs for the game.
The Lady Renegades are right back in action Thursday, May 20, when they face Mountain Lakes in a 6 p.m. game at the RVA Fields in Boonton Township.

Dwyer's goaltending sparks Lady Renegades in 11-5 win
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Kate Dwyer finished the game with 11 saves when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold team defeated Kittatinny, 11-5, in a youth lacrosse game played at Veterans Field in Newton on Saturday, May 15.
Dwyer was in the RockDen goal the entire game and stopped five shots in the first half when the Lady Renegades took a 7-3 lead. She had six more saves in the second half.
"We had great goal-keeping from Kate Dwyer," said head coach Marc Sherr after the game. "Her ability to 'stand tall' in the goal helped us to hold off Kittatinny during the game."
Kelsey Dugan and Tracy Sherr led the RockDen offense with three goals each. Danielle Willis, Morgan Mahon, Hannah Whelchel, Gabby Dwyer and Danielle Posten each added one goal.
Fiona Backe, Mahon, Whelchel and Sherr each had assists.
"We brought up Heather Dugan from the fourth-grade team for the game and she responded well," Sherr said. "She had two groundballs during the game and also played a solid midfield."
The next game for the Lady Renegades is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, against Pequannock at Pequannock at 6 p.m.

RockDen scores last six goal of game in 15-7 win
ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold team scored the last six goals of the game to score a 15-7 victory over West Milford in a youth lacrosse game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Friday, May 14.
RockDen held a 7-2 lead at the half, but West Milford opened the second half with five goals to the Lady Renegades two to close the gap to 9-7 and trigger RockDen's six-goal run.
Tracy Sherr and Kelsey Dugan led the way for the Lady Renegades as Sherr scored four goals and had an assist and Dugan scored a three-goal hat trick. It was Sherr's third-straight four-goal game.
Fiona Backe, Rachel Mills and Gaby Dwyer each scored twice for RockDen while Morgan Mahon and Danielle Posten each added one goal. Shannon Turer finished the game with an assist.
Hannah Whelchel was in goal the entire game for the Lady Renegades and she finished with five saves, helped out by a solid defense that was sparked by Shaylyn Clavell who had a forced turnover in the first half.
The next game for these Lady Renegades is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, a 2 p.m. contest against Kitatinny at Veterans Field in Newton.

Lady Renegades defeat Hanover, 8-2
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr scored four times - her second straight four-goal game - and Sarah Walsh added two goals and an assist to spark the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold lacrosse team to an 8-2 victory over Hanover in a game played at Whippany Park High School on Monday, May 10.
The Lady Renegades led 5-1 at the half and then outscored Hanover 3-1 in the second half to secure the win.
Emily Blum scored a goal and had an assist; Shaye Clark added a goal; and Hannah Whelchel had an assist for the Lady Renegades.
"Kelsey Dugan, Sarah Walsh and Heather Dugan did a great job for us on groundballs," said Lady Renegade coach Marc Sherr after the game. "And Sarah also had a very strong game at her midfielder's spot."
The Lady Renegades next game is scheduled for Friday, May 14, against West Milford at the Pocono Road Field in Denville. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

Dwyer, Sherr hat tricks key in 12-7 victory
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Gaby Dwyer and Tracy Sherr each scored three goals when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold team defeated New Providence, 12-7, in a lacrosse game played at New Providence High School on Saturday, May 8.
Kelsey Dugan and Fiona Backe each scored twice and Morgan Mahon and Julie Buckingham each added a single goal. Shayln Clavell, Danielle Poston and Kristen Cefaloni each had an asisst for the Lady Renegades.
Hannah Whelchel played the entire game in goal for RockDen and she finished with 14 saves, nine in the second half when New Providence picked up the offensive pace as they tried to cut into the Lady Renegades' 7-2 halftime lead.
"Hannah was once again very solid in goal," said Lady Renegade coach Marc Sherr after the game. "She was able to handle the second-half pressure and that was huge in our victory.
"Kristen Cefaloni and Rachel Mills came up big for us, too. We had a shortage of midfielders today and Kristen moved into a middie spot and played well for us ... and Rachel had a solid game on defense in spite of playing with a sore leg."

Sherr scores 4 goals in 13-10 loss to Chatham
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr scored four goals and added an assist for the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold team in a 13-10 loss to Chatham at Pocono Road Fields in Denville on Friday, May 7.
The game was tied 5-5 at the half, but Chatham had an 8-5 edge in goals in the second half to secure the victory.
Kelsey Dugan scored two goals for the Lady Renegades; Shaye Clark had a goal and an assist; Rachel Mills, Allyson Rice and Sarah Walsh each added one goal; and Morgan Mahon had as assist.
Hannah Whelchel and Kate Dwyer split the goaltending duties for the Lady Renegades and each finished with seven saves and got solid defensive support from Shaylyn Clavell and Shannon Turer.
The Gold's next game is against Hanover and is scheduled for Monday, May 10, at Whippany Park High School at 7 p.m.

Dugan scored three goals in 6-5 loss toe Kinnelon
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Kinnelon broke a 5-5 tie with a goal late in the game to defeat the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold lacrosse team, 6-5, at Hudsonia Field in the township on Tuesday, May 4.
Kelsey Dugan had three goals for the Lady Renegades while Shay Clark and Ada Tessmer each scored once with Tessmer's goal her first in the Renegades' program. Rachel Mills had the only RockDen assist in the game.
Lady Renegade goaltender Kate Dwyer finished with 13 saves.
"We showed a lot of good teamwork and great passing during the game," said Lady Renegade coach Marc Sherr after the game. "Dwyer had an outstanding game in goal and she was a big part in keeping the game as close as it was."
The Lady Renegades face Chatham on Friday, May 7, at Pocono Road Field in Denville. Game time is 6 p.m.

ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr scored five goals when the RockDen Lady Renegades 5th/6th Gold lacrosse team lost a 10-8 decision to Long Valley in a game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Saturday, May 1.
Danielle Willis, Emily Blum and Kelsey Dugan each scored one goal for the Lady Renegades and Fiona Backe and Kelsey Dugan each had assists.
RockDen goalie Hannah Whelchel finished with seven saves.
"It was a hot day and the game hard-fought on both sides and he scoring went back and forth," said coach Marc Sherr after the game. "I was very pleased with our passing and teamwork."

Ten different players score in 13-5 victory
ROCKAWAY TWP. - Ten different players scored goals when the RockDen Lady Renegades Gold 5th/6th grade team defeated Chatham, 13-5, in a game played at Haas Field in Chatham on Wednesday, April 21.
Kelsey Dugan, Morgan Mahon and Tracy Sherr each scored two goals to lead the Lady Renegades' goal scoring parade.
Adding single goals were Danielle Willis, Rachel Mills, Fiona Backe, Gabrielle Dwyer, Sarah Walsh, Julia Buckingham and Shannon Turer.
Mills finished the game with three assists; Sherr added two; and Sarah Walsh and Willis each had one.
Kate Dwyer was in the RockDen cages for the entire game and she finished with four saves.
The team also "... did a great job with ground balls," according to Lady Renegades' coach Marc Sherr, as Mills, Dugan and Dwyer each had seven and Backe finished with six.
The Lady Renegades face Long Vally next on Saturday, May 1, on the Pocono Road Field in Denville with game time set for 1 p.m.

ROCKAWAY TWP. - Tracy Sherr scored four goals for the RockDen Lady Renegades Gold 5th/6th grade team in a season-opening 9-7 loss to Mountain Lakes in a game played at RVA Field in Boonton Township on Wednesday, April 21.
Gabrelle Dwyer, Rachel Mills and Sara Walsh each added a single goal and Julia Buckingham and Shaylyn Clavell each had an assist to roung out the scoring for the Lady Renegades.s
Hanna Whelchel was in goal for RockDen and finished the game with 13 saves.
Calling it an "... evenly matched game," Lady Renegade coach Marc Sherr had praise for the solid defensive play of Kristen Cefaloni, Shannon Turer, Buckingham and Clavell throughout the game.
