Tanis, Mahon score goals
in 3-2 loss to Morristown

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - The RockDen 4th-grade boys lacrosse team ended its season with a furious six-minute offense surge but the Renegades couldn't score and Morristown held on for a victory in a game played at Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown on Saturday, June 11, 2010.
    The Renegades' Clay Tanis, wearing the jersey of injured teammate Garret Ciccia, gave RockDen an early 1-0 lead when he scored an unassisted goal for the only goal of the first half.
    Morristown, however, scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead into the final quarter of play.
    Midway through the fourth quarter Terence Mahonb scored an unassisted goal for the Renegades to cut the Morristown lead to a goal at 3-2.
    That was the last goal of the game, however, as Morristown's defense and its goalkeeper were able to keep RockDen from scoring.
    Renegade defenseman Dylan McBride played a big role in the late-game charge, bringing three groundballs from the RockDen side of the field into the offensive zone before passing off to a Renegade attacker.
    Attackmen and midfielders Jeremy Boub, Arjhun Sinha, Nicholas Delafuente, Brydon Gibbs, Kvin McNally and Ian Pelkey each got off a least one quality shot on goal during the final six minutes but none of the shots found the back of the cage.
    Ryan Munoz was in goal for the Renegades and kept RockDen in the game with a solid performance.
    Defenders Peter Shah, Ben Miller, Zach Brady and Ryan Munoz also played well in front of Munoz, ac
cording to the Renegade coaching staff.

Skibicki scores lone goal in 3-1 loss to Mount Olive
     ROCKAWAY TWP. -
Trevor Skibicki scored the only RockDen goal of the game when the Renegades fourth-grade boys lacrosse team lost a 3-1 decision to Mount Olive in a game played at Mount Olive High School on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
    Mount Olive scored first and the Renegades tied the game early in the second period when Skibicki scored with an assist from Ian Pelkey.
    Mount Olive broke the tie just before the end of the first half and then scored the only goal of the second half to clinch the win.
    Renegade goaltender Nicky LaBanca kept the Renegades in the game with several big saves as he played a solid game in goal for the entire game.

Ciccia scores 2 goals to help top Hanover, 5-2

    ROCKAWAY TWP. -
Garret Ciccia scored twice when the RockDen Rengegades 4th-grade boys lacrosse travel team defeated Hanover, 5-2, in a game played at Hudsonia Field in the township on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
    Clay Tanis gave the Renegades a 1-0 lead the first period, but Hanover answered with a goal to send the teams into the second quarter tied at 1-1.
    Ciccia scored the only goal of the second period with an assist from Trevor Skibicki.
    In the third period, Ciccia scored his second goal of the game - this one with an assist from Jeremy Boub - and Hanover countered with its second and last goal of the game as the Renegades took a 3-2 lead into the final quarter of play.
    Kevin Doran scored an unassisted goal to give the Renegades a 4-2 lead and then Robbie Singley closed the scoring for the game when his hard shot was stopped by the Hanover goalie but, when he attempted to clear, the ball fell to the ground and into the goal for the final score of the game.
    Brydon Gibbs played the entire game in goal for the Renegades and, according to the Renegades coaching staff, "... made several outstanding saves to keep us in the game."

Pelkey scores 5 goals in 8-6 win over Jefferson

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Ian Pelkey scored five goals and had an assist when the RockDen Renegades 4th-grade boys lacrosse team defeated Jefferson, 8-6, in a game played at Fireman's Field in Jefferson on Thursday, May 12, 2011.

    Trevor Skibicki scored two second-half goals and Kevin Doran added a single goal to round out the goal-scoring for the Renegades.
    Terence Mahon, Garret Ciccia, Conor Nolan, Clay Tanis and Pelkey each had one assist.
    Brydon Gibbs started the game in goal for the Renegades and Mahon finished up.
    Third-graders Matthew Luttenberger, A.J. Head and Nicholas Miller - called up to help bolster the roster - drew praise from the coaching staff for their play in the minutes they were on the field.

Pelky, Walsh score in 8-2 loss to Kinnelon
    ROCKAWAY TWP. -
Ian Pelkey and Jacob Walsh each scored unassisted goals when the RockDen Renegade 4th-grade boys lacrosse team lost an 8-2 decision to Kinnelon in a game played at Hudsonia Field here in the township on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
    Pelkey's goal came in the second quarter after Kinnelon had taken a 4-0 lead and Walsh's goal came in the third quarter to cut Kinnelon's lead to three goals at 5-2. Kinnelon answered by scoring the final three goals of the game to forge the final 8-2 score.
    Brydon gibbs was in goal for RockDen in the first half while Nick LaBanca took over the the second half.

RockDen loses in title game at Lenape Valley LAX Festival
    ROCKAWAY TWP. -
The RockDen 4th-grade boys lacrosse team split four games in the Lenape Valley LAX Festival, the Renegades reaching the championship game in their age group where they lost a 2-1 overtime decision to the host Lenape Valley squad.
    The all-day tournament - held at the Lenape Valley lacrosse program's home fields - consisted of RockDen playing Kittatinny, Mount Olive and Lenape Valley in mini-games that consisted of two 10-minute halves played with a running clock.
    The Renegades fashioned a 2-1 record in the round-robin portion of the tournament and face Lenape Valley (3-0) in the title game. Ian Pelkley scored the lone Renegade goal against Lenape Valley and, when the game finished tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation, Lenape Valley scored in the overtime period to win the championship.,
    RockDen beat Kittatinny, 6-3, in the first round-robin game as Pelkey scored three goals and Terence Mahon, Arjun Sinha and Jeremy Boub each added a single goal. Nick Ward was in goal the entire game for the Renegades.
    In the second game - a 6-1 victory over Mount Olive - Pelkey scored another three-goal hat trick with Liam Gray, Boub and Mahon each adding a single goal. Nick Labanca was in goal for RockDen.
    The final round-robin game pitted RockDen vs. Lenape Valley and the game was tied at 2-2 and seemed destined for overtime when Lenape Valley got the winning goal with 40 seconds left in regulation. Garret Ciccia and Pelkey scored the Renegade goals and Labanca was in goal once again for RockDen.

Pelkey scores 3 goals to help beat Roxbury, 6-5

  ROCKAWAY TWP. - Ian Pelkey scored three goals and the RockDen Renegades 4th-grade boys lacrosse team held off a second-half rally to defeat Roxbury, 6-5, in a game played at Roxbury High School on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
    The Renegades took a 4-1 lead at the half and had to hold off a Roxbury second-half charge that saw the home team outscore RockDen 4-2 to pull to within a goal at game's end. The win was the first for the Renegades after two losses.
    Jacob Walsh had two goals and two assists for the Renegades; Arjun Siunha had a goal; and Conor Nolan finished with three assists.
    Brydon Gibbs was in goal for the entire game for the Renegades and he finished with seven saves.
    A key defensive play came late in the game when, with Roxbury pressing for the tying goal, Ben Miller captured a groundball that put an end to a Roxbury surge and preserved the game.
    The Renegades take to the road for their next game, a Thursday, May 5, contest at West Milford.

Tanis scores twice in 5-2 loss to Lenape Valley

    ROCKAWAY TWP. - Clay Tanis scored both goals when the RockDen Renegades 4th-grade boys team opened its season with a 5-2 loss to Lenape Valley in a North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League game played at Pocono Road Field in Denville on Monday, April 11, 2011.
    Brydon Gibbs was in the RockDen cages the entire game and finished with nine saves.
