Lady Knight goalie Rachel Sonnenberg made five saves for the shutout and got a lot of support from a defense that was led by Chelsea Palmisano.
"Chelsea had a great day for us ... especially on defensive corners," Morris Hills head coach Cindy Moncalieri said after the game. "She saved us quite a few times out there ... she was really on her game."
Mount Olive (2-6), the tournament's 16th seed, held Morris Hills to only three shots on goal for the entire game, something that Moncalieri said will have to change when the Lady Knights go up against Madison on Saturday.
We didn't play up to our standards against Mount Olive," Moncalieri said. "But the positive side to it all was we came out with a win and get to play another tournament game.
"Madison is tough and is even tougher on their home turf. And they are coming off a loss (a 2-1 double-OT defeat at the hands of Oak Lawn on Thursday) and that might motivate them even more for our game. The girls are excited about playing Madison and they are excited to be playing in another county tournament game.
"But they also know they are going to have to play hard to have any kind of a chance against Madison ... harder and a lot better."
