Eagles honored by coaches
as NJAC picks winter All-Stars
- DENVILLE - Jan Rosenberg, Adam Ramadan and Steven McKowen, the 'Big Three' in Morris Knolls High School wrestling for the 2009-2010 winter season, were named to the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference's American Division first team in a vote taken recently by the division's head coaches. The three state qualifiers finished the season with a combined 100-20 record with sophomore Rosenberg finishing at 35-6 at 103 pounds; Ramadan, a senior, posting a 32-8 season mark at 119; and McKowen, a sophomore, putting up a season record of 33-6 at 125. Also, junior Luke Homeijer was a second team all-division pick at 171 and senior Kevin Weis (152) and sophomore Jon Arbelaez (130) were selected to the honorable mention team. In boys basketball, senior Tyler Daniel was a second-team selection on the American Division team while senior Mike Boylan and sophomore Niko Kotoulas were honorable mentions. In girls basketball, junior Jen Jarvis was a first-team American Division selection on the All-Conference team; Junior Kelsey Wade was named to the second team and junior Christina Vittorio and sophomore Kristin Randolph were named to the honorable mention team. Also, the Morris County Girls Basketball Coaches Association named Lady Eagles head coach Sandy Feld its "Coach of the Year" and also selected Jarvis to the 16-player All-County team. The All-Conference girls fencing team featured Same Apgar as first-team epee; Marianna Makogon as second-team foil; and honorable mentions Sophie Heinlein (foil) and Lorraine Rosenberg (foil). In boys fencing, Lawrence Njume was first team All-NJAC in epee; Schuyler Nyegaard was second-team epee; and Derek Hsu (epee) and Luke Olenowski (sabre) were named to the honorable mention team. In bowling, Samantha Hessler was named to the NJAC All-Conference's girls first team; Adam Engelson, Paul Ostensen, and John Rotella were named to the Southern Division's boys second team; and Benjamin Fish and Matt Ortigas were honorable mentions on the boys team. In winter track, the Morris County Track Coaches Association's 14-man All-County teams for boys and girls are made up of winners from the county meet and senior Taylor Furman was the only Knolls athlete to make either team. The boys and girls All-NJAC swim teams have yet to be completed.
