notch their first victory

DENVILLE - The Hurricanes U10 boys travel team, one of the newest squads in the Denville HUB Soccer program, picked up its first victory in four attempts when it beat Hopatcong, 4-1, in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association game played at Todd Johnson Field here on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Four different players scored goals as the Hurricanes broke out to a 3-1 halftime lead and then added to the lead by scoring the only goal of the second half.
Thomas Shemon, Ryan Dzialo, Kyle Herman and Ryan Thullner scored the goals for the Hurricanes. Alex Kellett finished with two assists and Thomas Colao and Dzialo each had one assist.
Will Owens was the first-half keeper and he stopped four out of the five shots he faced. Josh Pedernera and Bill Gleeson split the goalie duties in the second half and each finished with one save.
The Hurricanes will go for their second MCYSA victory on Sunday, Oct. 17, when face the Lenape Valley Celtic in an away game at Forest West Field at 1 p.m.

Benjamin scores lone goal as Hurricanes open with a loss
DENVILLE - James Benjamin scored Denville's goal when the HUB Soccer Hurricanes U10 boys travel team lost a 7-1 decision to Mount Olive in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association fall season opening-day game played at Turkey Brook Park in Mount Olive on Sunday, Sept. 12.
Ryan Dzialo got the assist on Benjamin's goal, which he scored in the first half of play.
Denville goalies Bill Gleeson, Thomas Shemon and Will Owens finished with a combined 14 saves for the game.
The Hurricanes will face the Madison Killer Bs on Sunday, Sept. 19, in a 1:30 p.m. game at Madison.
