Games vs. Dynamo, Bulldogs

      DENVILLE -
The Denville HUB Soccer Dragons 8U boys travel team plays its last two games of the 2010 Morris County Youth Soccer Association the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13, with the championship of Flight 3 at stake.
      The Dragons have five wins and three ties against no losses for 18 points are are second in the standings, one point behind the SMC United Dynamo, who have six wins and a tie against one loss for 19 points. The third-place Randolph Bulldogs have five wins and two ties against one loss for 16 points are are also in the title hunt.
      The Dragons play the Dynamo in a noon game at Todd Johnson Field here on Saturday, June 12, and then travel to Heistein Park in Randolph Township on Sunday, June 13, for a 4 p.m. game against the Bulldogs. Both previous games between the two teams ended in ties with the Dragons-Dynamo game 2-2 and the Dragons-Bulldogs game 1-1.
      The flight championship will go to the Dragons if they win both games. A split will leave the Denville team needing help from the West Jersey Wildcats, who are in last place in the flight standings with one win and seven losses for three points and must play the Dynamo and Bulldogs in their final two games. The Dynamo-Wildcat game will be held Sunday, June 13, and the Bulldog-Wildcat game has been scheduled for Sunday, June 20.

Dragons remain unbeaten with 9-1 win over Wildcats

      DENVILLE - The Denville HUB Soccer Dragons U8 Dragons boys travel team remained unbeaten on the season with five wins and three ties after beating the West Jersey Wildcats, 9-1, in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association game played at Meadowbreeze Field in Washington on Sunday, June 6.
      Dragons Michael Landolfi, Michael Petrucha, Devin Musser, Joey Budwick and Cole DeWees accounted for all of the goals.
      The goalkeeper duties were split by Thomas Shemon and Adam Bolivar and they finished with a combined six saves. The only goal scored by West Jersey came on a penalty kick in the second half.

Landolfi's four goals pace Dragons' two Ws

      DENVILLE - Michael Landolfi scored four goals in two games to lead the Denville HUB Dragons U8 boys travel team to a pair of wins in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association over the weekend.
       Landolfi scored three goals and Devin Musser added two in a 7-4 see-saw victory over the Butler Bulldogs in a game played on Saturday, May 15, and Landolfi was one of five different Dragon goal scorers in a 5-1 victory over the Madison Rhinos on Sunday, May 16.
       Against Butler, the Dragons fell behind when the Bulldogs scored in the first minute, but Landolfi made it 1-1 with the first of his three goals.
      Butler took a 2-1 lead and the Dragons' Gianangelo Dichio answered to tie the game at 2-2. Butler went ahead 3-2 as the first half came to a close when the Bulldogs converted a penalty kick.
      The back-and-forth scoring continued in the second half with Rohan Amin scoring for the Dragons to tie the score at 3-3. Butler took the lead again at 4-3 only to have Landolfi score his second goal of the game for a 4-4 tie.

       The game remained deadlocked for a good 10 minutes before the Dragon's constant offensive pressure paid off and Denville scored the last three goals of the game to win it.
       Musser scored what proved to be the winning goal and then scored again to make it 6-4 before Landolfi capped the scoring for the day with his third goal of the game.
       Adam Boliva and Danny O'Boyle shared the goal-tending duties for the Dragons and had a combined 10 saves.
       In Sunday's game against Madison, the Dragons again allowed the first goal of the game.

       But goals by Musser, Landolfi and Michael Petrucha gave the Dragons a 3-1 lead at the half. Musser assisted on Petrucha's goal.
       Second-half goals by Joe Budwick and Will Hogan extended the Denville lead. Budwick's goal came off a penalty kick.
       Boliva and O'Boyle once again split the keeper's duties and finished with a combined 13 saves.

Dragons win one, tie one in weekend play

     DENVILLE - The Denville HUB Soccer Dragons U8 boys travel team played two close Morris County Youth Soccer Association games this past weekend, tying the Randolph Bulldogs on Friday, May 7, at Todd Johnson Field here and then holding off the East Hanover Warriors, 4-3, in a game played at Lurker Park in East Hanover on Sunday, May 9.
      Against Randolph Devin Musser scored an unassisted goal in the first half for the only Dragon score, although Gianangelo Dichio and Joey Budwick also had quality shots on goal that were turned aside by the Randolph keeper.
      Adam Bolivar and Danny O'Boyle split the goaltending chores for the Dragons with each keeper finishing with two saves.
      In the game against East Hanover, Cole DeWees, Michael Landolfi and Dichio scored first-half goals to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead only to have East Hanover open the second half with three unanswered goals to tie the score.
     The Dragons pressed on offense, however, as Arjun Chidrawar, Musser, Boliva and Landolfi each put shots on net that were knocked away by the East Hanover keeper.
     With only a few minutes left in the game, Thomas Shemon sent a corner kick toward the East Hanover net that Musser was able to control and put into the East Hanover net for the winning goal.
     Andrew Sceurman, Landolfi and Musser also had assists in the game.
     Rohan Amin and O'Boyle split the goaltending duties and the duo finished with a combined four saves.

Landolfi, Musser goals give Dragons tie with United

     DENVILLE - The Denville HUB Soccer Dragons U8 boys travel soccer team and SMC United played to a 2-2 tie in a Morris County Youth Soccer Association game played in the rain on a muddy field at Newark Academy in Livingston on Sunday, April 25.
     Michael Landolfi scored the only goal of the first half on an assist by Devin Musser to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead.
     SMC United answered with two second-half goals before Musser responded with the game-tying goal with assists from Adam Boliver and Landolfi.
     Joey Budwick and Bolivar split the goaltending duties for the Dragons and finished with a combined 10 saves.

Dragons open with 5-1 win over West Jersey

      DENVILLE - Thomas Shemon's breakaway goal gave the Denville HUB Dragons 8U boys a lead they never lost and Devin Musser scored two goals to open the Morris County Youth Soccer Association's 2010 spring season with a 5-1 victory over the West Jersey Wildcats in a game played at Lower Knuth Field here on Sunday, April 11.
     After Shemon's unassisted goal gave the Demons an early 1-0 lead, Michael Landolfi scored on an assist by Rohan Amin for a 2-0 lead; Danny O'Boyle made it 3-0 when he scored on an assist by Joey Primiano; and Musser scored the first of his two unassisted goals to give the Dragons a commanding 4-0 lead at the half.
     West Jersey got its only goal in the second half, but that score was offset by Musser second goal of the game.
     Dragon first-half goalie Adam Boliver stopped the only shot he faced and Shemon was in the net for the second half and finished with three saves.
     Gianangelo Dichio, Will Hogan and Boliver also had shots on goal during the game.
