$7,861 raised for Valleyview
saved fall soccer program
DENVILLE - Don Casse, president of HUB Soccer of Denville, announced on Wednesday, August 26, 2006, that parents connected to the travel soccer club have helped raise funds in the amount of $7,861 in an effort to help restore fall soccer at Valleyview Middle School.
A check in the amount of $7,861 has been delivered to Business Administrator John Serapiglia to support the 2009 fall scholastic soccer season for Valleyview boys and girls.
This effort was in response to the defeat of the second question on the 2009-2010 school budget, a defeat that meant sports and other extra-curricular activities would be discontinued for the 2009-2010 school year because of lack of funding.
"Our travel soccer parents and players stepped up to raise funds within a very short time frame," Casse said. "We had a two-day garage sale in July that raised more than $4,000 and additional funds were raised through a car wash, a bake sale, a can shake, sales of T-shirts and individual donations."
HUB Soccer's Division 3 Director Ed Black, Board Secretary Patty McGlynn, former PR Director Bob Krueger and Joanne Hunt were the main HUB Soccer people involved in the fund-raising efforts, according to Caase.
