honored for fall sports, grades

       ROCKAWAY - Seventeen varsity athletes who played fall sports for Morris Hills High School have been named to the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic team.
      Members of the team had to have maintained an 85 grade-point average for the fall quarter and been selected to the All-NJAC first or second team in their sport.
      The honorees:
      Boys Cross Country: Connor Doyle, Nicholas Patterson and Joe Rewick; Girls Cross Country: Jana Sedlacek, Kira Polimeni, Ailis Clyne and Jackie Mosca; Boys Soccer: Carlos Herrera;
      Girls Soccer: Michelle Churchman, Jennifer Polanco, Jaimie Bertoli and Dana Castellano; Volleyball: Alex DeSa. Field Hockey: Rachel Sihlanick; Football: Eric Turner, Antonio Castro and Albert Gambale.

DeRiggi, Perry, Randolph,
Churchman make first teams

     Kristen DeRiggi, Jen Perry and Kristen Randolph of Morris Knolls and Michelle Churchman of Morris Hills were honored recently by by Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference coaches by being selected to the first teams of their respective divisions in the league's 2010 All-Conference Girls Soccer Team.
     Perry, a senior, and junior DeRiggi and Randolph were named to the All National Division First Team while Churchman, a senior, was a First-Team selection on the All-American Division squad.
     Morris Knolls also had three second-team selections in seniors Amanday Murray and Rachel Diamond and junior Kayla Coutts. Breanna Inguin and Emma Coccia were voted onto the Honorable Mention team.
      Also for Morris Hills, junior Jennifer Polanco and Jaimie Bertoli were named to the All-American Second Team while junior Michelle Mikhno and freshman Mackenzie Hestevold were selected for the Honorable Mention team.

      Seniors Annie Sapio of Morris Hills and Shannon Fisher of Morris Knolls were named to the first teams their respective All-Division teams when the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference announced its 2010 All-Conference teams.
      Sapio was named to the American Divison first team and Fisher was a first-team selection on the National Division squad.
      Also for Morris Hills, seniors Rachel Sihlanick and Nirali Patel were named to the All-American second team and senior Chelsea Weidanz and junior Rachel Sonnenberg were selected to the honorable mention team.
      For Morris Knolls, senior Megan Fredericks was a National Division second-team pick and seniors McKenna Schuster and Sabrina Goldtrap were named to the honorable mention team.

      Morris Knolls had two players on the All-National first team and Morris Hills had one player on the All-American first team when the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced the results of the coaches' voting for  All-Division boys soccer teams.
      Eagles Eric Schmitt and Jake Moran were selected to the All-National first team. Other Morris Knolls players to be honored were Steven Arias, a second-team selection; Zack Bakan, an honorable mention; and Peter Luce, also an honorable mention.
       For Morris Hills, Carolos Herrara was named to the All-American first team; Jake Rogers was a second-team selection; and Gregg Leeper and Anthony Vergara were named to the division's honorable mention team.

      Morris Knolls and Morris Hills High Schools each put two players on the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Division girls tennis teams selected by the conference coaches recently.
      Seniors Savita Sukha and Natasha Kazakevich of Morris Knolls were named to the All-National Division honorable mention team the 2010 fall season and senior Rachel Sitzer and junior Audrey Lee were the Morris Hills players selected to All-American Division's honorable mention team.

MK's Pulice is named

to All-Division 1st team

      Vanessa Pulice of Morris Knolls was named to the first team of the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) National Division team by a recent vote of the conference coaches.
      The Lady Eagles' Keri Bongo was named to the All-National second team and Mary Ninivaggi and Andrea Bush were honorable mentions.
      West Morris Central (11-1) was the champion of the seven-team division with Mendham a game back at 10-2. Morris Knolls finished fourth with a 5-7 division record.
      In the American Division, Alexis DeSa of Morris Hills was a second-team all-division selection and teammates Gabby Saggese and Bethany Young were named to the Honorable Mention team.
     Sparta won the seven-team division with an 11-1 record with Mount Olive (10-2) a game behind. Morris Hills finished 2-10 in conference play.

       Seniors Jake Moran and Eric Schmitt of Morris Knolls High School were named to the second team of the 2010 All-County Boys Soccer Team at the Morris County Boys Soccer Coaches Association at the organization's annual awards luncheon held at Zeris Inn in Mountain Lakes on Monday, Nov. 22.

       Morris Hills junior Carlos Herrera was also a second-team selection.

       Morris Knolls and Morris Hills each had one player selected to the Honorable Mention team by the coaches as senior Frank Cestone of Morris Knolls and junior Nick Polega of Morris Hills were voted to the team.

       The Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its 2010 Cross Country All-Conference teams and seven Morris Knolls runners were mentioned on the three National Division teams and three Morris Hills boys were named to the American Division's first team.
       Junior Alyssa Brindle and sophomore Julia Strother were the Lady Eagles named to the National Division girls first team; sophomore Priscilla Ortiz and freshmen Kassandra Ortiz and Shannon Dolan were second-team selections; and sophomore Brianna Reggiani and freshman Emily Bentivegna were selected to the Honorable Mention team.
       On the boys side, senior Ryan Mariani was a second-team selection and senior Drew Reinhardt and freshman Kyle O'Connor were honorable mentions.
        In the American Division boys teams, Morris Hills put senior Connor Doyle, junior Nicholas Patterson and sophomore Travis Ellis on the first team; senior Joe Rewick was named to the second team; and seniors Jesse Spector and Jon Richman were honorable mentions.
        On the girls side, senior Jana Sedlacek was a first-team selection; senior Jackie Mosca and sophomore Ailis Clyne were named to the second team; and junior Erin Gaven and sophomore Angela Ciallella were honorable mentions.
