Kaiser leads the way as 3/4 graders

ends season with skills competition

    DENVILLE - There were several multiple-medal winners when the Denville PAL 3rd/4th grade rec basketball program concluded its 2009-2010 season with a league-wide skill competition at Valleyview Middle School on Tuesday, March 23.
      Players competed in five events focusing on dribbling, shooting and timed-speed skills.
 David Kaiser won three of the five first-place medals in the 4th
Grade Division while Pierce Rankin and Brandon Bubak each won one.  Bryce Mott and Alec Shea each won two medals.
      Kaiser won the Coaches Challenge, Obstacle Course and Knock-Out competitions; Rankin sank his final shot on the eighth round to win the free-throw shooting competition; and Bubak won the 3-point shooting contest in the fourth round.
      Riley Furlong, Robert Plumb and Connor Chegwidden stepped up with Furlong winning two first-place medals and tying for another; Plumb winning one competition; and Chegwidden tying for first place in one event and placing second in three competitions.
      Furlong and Chegwidden tied for first in the Coaches Challenge; Furlong won the Obstacle Course event and the first Knock-Out; Plumb won the second Knock-Out; and Chegwidden placed second in the Obstacle Course and both Knock-Outs.

Amscot finishes year at 9-1

with 31-24 victory over DLP


    DENVILLE - Amscot Structural Products closed out the 2009-2010 basketball season in the Denville PAL 3rd/4th grade boys rec league with a 9-1 record after beating Denville Line Painting, 31-24, at Lakeview School on Friday, March 19.
    Luke Shea scored 16 points for Amscot while Alec Shea added 10; Josh Covello and Kyle Somogyi each had two points; and Danny Gavin hit a free throw. For Denville Line Painting, Ryan Russo tied Shea for game honors with 16 points; Damon Lattuga added four; Noah Whitmore finished with two points; and Anthony Bogovic and Chris Bracuti each sank a free throw.
    In the league's highest scoring game of the season, Denville Community Chiropractic beat Land of Coochepuma Corn Maze, 45-35, as all eight DCC players scored.
    David Kaiser and Jsaun Mobley each scored nine points to lead the winners; Dawson Ray and Riley Furlong each had six points; Jimmy Bebb added five; John Murray and Christopher Goffredo each finished with four points; and James Benjamin scored two. For Coochepuma, Joe Taylor finished with a game-high 21 points; Michael Seeley had six points; John Sheridan and Christopher Cavaliere each finished with three points; and Josh Rand completed the scoring with two points.
   Power Play Gaming got a season-high 24 points from Bryce Mott and went on a 15-4 fourth-period tear to break a tie at 26 and defeat Cruiser's, 41-30, in a game played on Monday, March 15.
   Matias Pellegrino's steal and two-pointer at the start of the final period got the momentum going for Power Play. Pierce Rankin scored eight points for Power Play; Pellegrino finished with four; Erich Frie and Kevin Doran each had two points and John Michael scored a free throw. Connor Eppel had 10 points and Liam Dugan added nine for Cruiser's; Kyle Conkin had five points; Christopher Willis finished with four; and Josh Pederera added two points.
    Elijah Kirat and Nick DeNucci each scored 12 points to lead B&R Sports to a 25-27 victory over Onorati Construction.
    Nicholas Cluen added seven points; Terrence Mahon had two points; and Thomas Stepanian and Jack Stackhouse each added a free throw. Stepanian also finished the game with six assists. For Onorati, third-graders Robert Plumb and Tommy Scalici each finished with 10 points; Zaire Mitchell and Connor Williams each had two points; and Troy Ejdys, Thomas Fitzsimmons and Thomas Anderson each had a free throw.
    Signature Media Design used a balanced scoring effort as all eight of its players scored in a 33-22 victory over Landscape Design.
    Jonathan Reh had eight points; David Connell added seven; Ryan Greenhagen and Jake Sinegra each had six; Arjun Sinha added four; Thomas Colao and Ryan Dzialo each had two and Barry Spenser added a free throw for the winners. LaBanca was led by Connor Chegwidden's 13 points; six from Nicholas Siemion and one each from Nicholas LaBanca, Vincent LaBanca and Kenny Moller.

Onorati rallies to victory over Signature Media

     DENVILLE - Onorati Construction scored 17 fourth-quarter points to complete a 24-14 victory over Signature Media Design in a Denville PAL 3rd/4th Boys Rec Basketball League game played at Valleyview Middle School on Saturday, March 6.
     Tommy Scalici and Zaire Mitchell each scored eight points for Onorati while Jake Sinegra led Signature Media in scoring with seven points.
     In other games Saturday:
     Community Chiropractic defeated Tri-County Orthopedic, 25-17, as Jsaun Mobley and Riley Furlong each scored seven points, Jimmy Bebb added six points and Dawson Ray had four. TCO was led by Dylan Berchin with nine points and Ian Beumee with eight.
     Coochepuma beat LaBanca Landscaping, 21-14, behind a 10-point effort by Joe Taylor. Nicholas Siemion had a season-high eight points for LaBanca.
    In a game played on Friday, March 5, at Valleyview Middle School, Amscot Structural used a 13-3 third-period run to beat B&R Sports, 31-23. Alec Shea led Amscot with 13 points while Josh Covello added 10. Nick Denucci had 12 points to lead B&R and Thomas Stepanian added five points.
     In another Friday game, Tri-County Orthopedic edged Signature Media Design, 23-19, at Lakeview School as Dyland Berchin led the way with eight points and Ian Beumee added six. For Signature Media, Ryan Greenhagen and Jonathan Reh each finished with a team-high six points.
     In games played at Lakeview School on Monday, March 1, Amscot Structural defeated Power Play Gaming, 34-19; and Coochepuma stopped The Cruisers, 30-19.
     Kyle Somogyi and Luke Shea each had 14 points to lead Amscot Structural while Bryce Mott had eight points and Pierce Rankin added six for Power Play Gaming.
    Joe Taylor scored 10 points and Michael Seeley and John Sheridan each finished with a season-high eight points in Coochepuma�s victory. Kyle Conklin and Liam Dugan each had six points to lead the Cruisers in scoring.

Stepanian leads B&R Sports to victory

     DENVILLE - Thomas Stepanian scored 6 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to lead B&R Sports to a 24-21 victory over Coochepuma a Denville PAL 3rd/4th grade rec league game played at Lakeview School on Saturday, Feb. 20.
     Nick DeNucci added six points; Nick Cluen scored four points and Jared Plattman, Jake Stackhouse and Billy Gleeson each scored on a free throw to complete the scoring for B&R. 

    Joe Taylor had a game-high 14 points for Coochepuma while Chris Chegwidden added three points; Christopher Santiago had two; and Michael Seeley and Christopher Cavaliere each finished with a point.
     Power Play Gaming defeated Onorati Construction, 30-17, in another Saturday game as Bryce Mott led the way with 14 points. Matias Pellegrino added eight points; Pierce Rankin had six and Brydon Gibbs and Nicholas Prill each had free throws to complete the scoring for Power Play.
     For Onorati, Zaire Mitchell led the way with 12 points; Robert Plumb finished with four points; and Thomas Fitzsimmons added a free throw.
     The Cruisers rode a 24-point performance by Connor Eppel to a 33-24 victory over Tri-County Orthopedic. Kyle Conklin had four points for the winners; Sean Dugan scored three; and Mikey Krummann and Liam Dugan each had a free throw.
     Dylan Berchin and Ian Beumee each scored eight points for Tri-County Orthopedic while Andrew Tell added three points; Tyler Fazio had two; and Billy Milne completed the scoring with a free throw.
     Amscot Structural beat Signature Media, 36-23, as all eight players who suited up scored. Alec Shea led the way with 10 points; Josh Covello followed with eight points; Kyle Somogyi had seven; Luke Shea finished with six points; Danny Gavin had two points; and Jonathan Beddow, Colum McGowan and Alex Kellet each finished with a free throw.
     For Signature Media, David Connell finished with 10 points; Arjun Sinha and Jonathan Reh each had five points; Ryan Dzialo had two points and Jake Sinegra had a free throw.
     In a Friday (Feb. 19) night game, Ryan Russo scored 16 points and Damon Lattuga added 10 to lead Denville Line Painting to a 33-14 win over LaBanca Landscape Design.
     Noah Whitmore added three points; Ryan McEntee had two; and Josh Lefferts and Chris Bracuti each sank a free throw for the winners.

    Brandon Bubak scored six points for LaBanca; Connor Chegwidden had four; and the Brothers LaBanca - Nick and Vince - each finished with two points.

Greenhagen's 18 points lead way as Signature wins

     DENVILLE - Ryan Greenhagen had a game-high 18 points as Signature Media defeated Tri-County Orthopedic, 33-21, in a Denville PAL 3rd/4th grade boys rec league game played at Lakeview School on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
     Jake Sinegra added seven points; Jonathan Reh scored six points; and Arjun Sinha and Ryan Dzialo each added free throws for Signature Media.
     Ian Beumee led Tri-County Orthopedic in scoring with 16 points; Tyler Fazio and Adam Buabicz each added two points; and Billy Milne had a free throw.

Power Play, Corn Maze, B&R, Amscot triumph 

    DENVILLE - Power Play Gaming outscored Denville Line Painting 9-3 in a fourth-quarter burst to register a 24-20 come-from-behind win in a Denville PAL 3rd/4th grade boys rec league game played at Lakeview School on Saturday, Jan. 30.
    Trailing 17-15 going into the final period, Power Play�s defense - led by five blocked shots by Bryce Mott - proved to be the difference in the comeback victory. Mott finished with nine points; Pierce Rankin scored six points; Matias Pellegrino had five; Kevin Doran sank a key field goal in the fourth period; and Nicholas Prill and John-Michael Taormina each scored a free throw.
    Ryan Ruso had six points for Denville Line Painting; Damon Latuga added five points; Noah Whitmore and Chris Bracuti each finished with three points; Anthony Bogovic scored two points; and Jacob Walsh scored on a free throw.
    Coochepuma Corn Maze eked out a 21-20 win over The Cruisers. Joe Taylor scored 12 points for Coochepuma; John Sheridan added four; John Polson finished with two points and John Sheridan, Josh Rand and Chris Chegwidden hit clutch free throws for the winners. Sean Dugan had seven points for The Cruisers while Connor Eppel added six; Christopher Willis had four; Liam Dugan had two points; and Josh Pederera sank a free throw to round out the scoring for the Cruisers.
     B&R Sports defeated Community Chiropractic, 32-24, as Thomas Stepanian and Elijah Kirat each scored 10 points in the winning effort. Nick DeNucci scored four points; Terence Mahon and Jared Plattman each had three points; and Nicholas Cluen added a field goal.
     All eight players who dressed scored at least one point for Community Chiropractic as David Kaiser and Riley Furlong each scored six points to lead the way; Dawson Ray and Jimmy Bebb each finished with three points; Jsaun Mobley and John Murray each added two points; and James Benjamin and Christopher Goffredo each made a free throw.
     Amsot Structural jumped out to an early lead and went on to beat LaBanca Landscaping, 35-17. Alec Shea scored 14 points and Kyle Somogyi added 12 to lead the way while Luke Shea scored five points and Josh Covello finished with four.
     For LaBanca, Connor Chegwidden scored seven points; Nick LaBanca added six points and Brandon Bubak and Nicholas Siemion each had a field goal.
     Game of the Week for next Saturday's (Feb. 6) league schedule is the matchup between Amscot Structural (3-1) and Power Play Gaming (4-1), a game that has been scheduled for Morris Vo-Tech at 2 p.m.

Line Painting, B&R Sports, Cruiser triumph

    DENVILLE - Ryan Russo scored 10 of his game-high 21-points in the final quarter as Denville Line Painting rallied to beat previously unbeaten Denville Community Chiropractic, 31-28, in a Denville PAL 3rd/4th Grade Boy Rec Basketball League game played at Lakeview School here on Saturday, Jan. 23.
    Anthony Bogovic added five points for the winners while David Kaiser scored 11 points, Jsaun Mobley added 10 and Riley Furlong finished with four for Chiropractic (3-1).
    In other game played Saturday:
    B & R Sports overcame a 23-8 second-quarter deficit and rallied for a 35-30 victory over Tri-County Orthopedic.  Thomas Stepanian had six of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.  Nick DeNucci scored eight points and Nick Cluen and Terrence Mahon each finished with five points for B&R. Tri-County Orthopedic was led by Dylan Berchin�s 14 points while Ian Beumee added seven points and Tyler Fazio finished with six points.
     Amscot Structural outlasted Onorati Construction, 40-32, as Luke Shea scored 18 points, Kyle Somogyi added 12 and Alec Shea finished with eight points for the winners. Zaire Mitchell led a strong Onorati inside game with 12 points while Tommy Scalici finished with  eight points, Joe Onorati added six and Connor Williams had three points..
     The Cruisers edged LaBanca Landscaping, 34-33, as Connor Eppel led the way for the winners with 20 points, Sean Dugan had five and Christopher Willis finished with three points.  Kyle Conklin blocked a final shot attempt to seal The Cruisers' one-point victory. For LaBanca's Boyz, Connor Chegwidden led the charge with 17 points, Nicholas LaBanca added six points and Nicholas Siemion scored three points.
  Power Play Gaming used a balanced attack to beat Signature Media, 32-14, as Bryce Mott led the way with 10 points and six assists,  Matias Pellegrino added eight point, Kevin Doran had seven, Pierce Rankin finished with four points and John-Michael Taormina had his first basket of the season, a jumper from the corner. Community Chiropractic lone unbeaten team left

     DENVILLE - Denville Community Chiropractic came out of Week 3 of the Denville PAL 3rd/4th Boys Basketball Rec League as the only unbeaten team in the league as they improved to 3-0 with a 35-22 victory over B&R Sports in a game played at Lakeview School here on Saturday, Jan. 16.
    David Kaiser led a balanced DCC attack with 12 points while Jsaun Mobley added eight, Riley Furlong had seven and John Murray finished with four points. For B&R, Nick DeNucci had nine points, Nick Cluen added five, and Thomas Stepanian finished with four.
    Also on Saturday, The Cruisers edged Signature Media, 30-25, as Connor Eppel scored 13 points, Sean Dugan added five and Kyle Conlin and Liam Dugan each finished with four points for the winners. For Sgnature Media, Ryan Greenhagen had 12 points and Jake Sinegra added six.
    In another game, Power Play defeated Denville Line Painting, 24-14, as Erich Frie and Bryce Mott each scored six points for Power Play, Pierce Rankin added five points and Matias Pellegrino finished with four points. Ryan Russo scored a game-high eight points for Denville Line Painting while Chris Bracuti added three.
    Earlier in the week, Denville Line Painting beat Coochepuma, 40-22, as Russo scored 17 points and Anthony Bogovic finished with 12. Joe Taylor led Coochepuma with 14 points while Michael Seely added four.
    In another Saturday game, Amscot Structural defeated Coochepuma, 35-15, as Alec Shea scored 14 points, Luke Shea added eight and Kyle Somogyi finished with six points for the winners. Jack Sheridan scored  team-high five points for Coochepuma.
    Onorati Construction beat LaBanca Landscaping, 29-12, as Zaire Mitchell scored 10 points, Tommy Scalici added seven and Robert Plumb finished with four points for the winners. For LaBanca Landscaping, Nick LaBanca finshed with four points and Jack Thomas added three.

Chiropractic, B&R, LaBanca, Coochepuma win

    DENVILLE - The Denville PAL 3rd/4th-Grade Boys Basketball Rec League opened play on Saturday, Jan. 9, with a slate of five games played at Lakeview School here.
      David Kaiser's last-minute jump shot gave Denville Community Chiropractic a 25-24 victory over Power Play Gaming.  Kaiser finished with 15 points while Dawson Ray added four for Community Chiropractic. For Power Play, Bryce Mott had 18 points and Kevin Doran added three.
    Seven players scored for B&R Sports in a 26-10 win over The Cruisers.  Thomas Stepanian led all scorers with eight point while Nick Denucci, Jake Stackhouse, Nicholas Cluen and Elijah Kirat each added four points.  Brothers Liam and Sean Dugan combined for six points for the Cruisers
    Connor Chegwidden scored 12 points and Nicholas LaBanca added eight to lead LaBanca's Boyz to a 30-26 win over Onorati Construction.  Zaire Mitchell had 13 points and Tommy Scalici added five for Onorati.
    Coochepuma Corn Maze held off a fourth-quarter rally from Signature Media to hang onto a 24-20 win. Joe Taylor scored 10 points for the winners with John Polson, Michael Seeley and Chris Cavaliere each adding four points.  Signature was led by David Connell with 10 and Arjun Sinha and Jonathan Reh, each with four points.
     Denville Line Painting got 12 points from Ryan Russo, six more from Damon Lattuga and four from Noah Witmore to defeat Tri-County Orthopedic, 29-11.  Dylan Berchin and Ian Beumee each had four points to lead Tri-County.
