Game Day: Denville had two runs in and the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh when Chester got the last out of an 8-7, extra-inning  win over Denville in a Rockaway Rumble 12s Baseball Tournment game played on Friday, July 23, at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township.

Denville late rally falls short

in extra-inning 'L' to Chester

     DENVILLE - The Denville 12-year-old All-Star baseball team's last inning rally fell one run and 60-feet short in an 8-7 loss to Chester in a Rockaway Rumble 12s Baseball Tournament game played at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township on Friday, July 23.
     With the scored tied at 5-5 after six innings of regulation, Chester scored three runs in the top of the first extra inning to take an 8-5 lead.
     Denville came back in the bottom of the seventh with two runs and had the tying run on third  base when Chester recorded the final out to win the one-run decision.
     Cole Hopler  and Jon Cocchio led Denville's hitting attack as Hopler  was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Cocchio finished with two doubles and a single, two RBIs and four runs scored.
     Thomas Stepanian and NIck Mills each had two singles and Jay Rorrer had a double for Denville.

Cocchio, Graziano spark 17-16 win over Randolph

     DENVILLE - Jon Cocchio drove in six runs on three hits and Mark Graziano ended the game with a running catch in right field with a man on second base when Denville outlasted Randolph, 17-16, in a Rockaway Rumbles 12s Baseball Tournament game played at Peterson Field on Monday, July 19.
     Cocchio hit a three-run triple, a run-scoring single, and a two-run double and scored three runs to pace the Denville attack.
     Cole Hopler singled and doubled and finished with two RBIs for Denville. Nick Mills added two singles to the attack; Danny Taylor and Jason Rorrer each hit a double; and Connor Backes, Ed McGlynn and Graziano each added a hit.
     With Randolph trailing by one run with a man on second base with two outs in the bottom of the sixth and final inning, Graziano made a nice running catch on a short fly ball to right field to end the game.

Denville held to two hits in 7-6 loss to RT-National
     DENVILLE - Held to two hits by three Rockaway Township National pitchers, Denville still managed to score six runs only to lose, 7-6, when RT-National scored it winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in a Rockaway Rumble 12s Baseball Tournament game held at Peterson Field on Saturday, July 18.
     Denville scored three times in the first inning by taking advantage of six walks and Nick Mills got the first hit of the game for Denville when he singled home a run in the fourth inning.
     Jon Cocchio had the other hit for Denville - a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
     Jayson Rorrer and Joe LaRiccia split the pitching duties for Denville and held Rockaway Township to three hits.

Cocchio four-hitter helps top RT-American, 7-4

     DENVILLE - Jon Cocchio pitched a complete-game four-hitter and drove in two runs with a pair of doubles as Denville beat Rockaway Township American, 7-4, in the Rockaway Rumble 12s Baseball Tournament at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township on Saturday, July 17.
     Cole Hopler also had two hits and drove in two runs for Denville, which had its big inning in the fourth when it scored four times. Jason Rorrer and Thomas Stepanian had RBI singles during the fourth and Nick Mills had a key hit when his single kept the rally alive.
     Connor Backes moved from third base to catcher and "... did an excellent job there," according to Denville manager Bob Ranft.

Denville rally falls short in 9-8 loss to Hanover
     DENVILLE
- Denville came close to making up a 9-1 deficit, falling one run short in losing at 9-8 decision to Hanover American in a Rockaway Rumble 12s Baseball Tournament game played at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township on Thursday, July 15.
     Jon Cocchio had two hits for Denville, including a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double in the fifth inning in the middle of Denville's rally.
     Cole Hopler finished with two hits and also drove in two runs. Ed McGlynn singled inthe secnd inning and Hunter Kaldy singled in the fifth inning.

Denville falls to Roxbury as Cocchio gets two hits

     DENVILLE - The Denville 12-year-old All-Star entry in the Rockaway Township Little League's  "Rockaway Rumble" tournament was held to two hits in a 14-1 loss to Roxbury in a game played at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township on Monday, July 12.
     Jon Cocchio singled twice and drove in Denville's only run in the fourth inning as Denville's tournament record slipped to 1-1 with the loss.
     Denville's next game is scheduled for Thursday, July 15, against Hanover American at 8 p.m., also at Peterson Field.

Cocchio, Taylor each have 3 RBI in 7-4 victory.

     DENVILLE - Jon Cocchio hit a two-run homer and drove in a third run with a bases-loaded walk as Denville beat Par-Troy East, 7-4, in a Rockaway Township 12s Baseball Tournament game played on Wednesday, July 7, at Peterson Field in Rockaway Township.
     Cocchio hit his homer in the bottom of the first inning and then drew a base-loaded walk in the fourth inning to force in Ed McGlynn with another run.
     Danny Taylor drove in three runs for the game when he came up with the bases loaded in the second inning and cleared them with a double. He also scored a run on an error.
     Joe LaRicci pitched the first three innings for Denville and Hunter Kaldy closed the game with three shutout innings of no-hit ball with seven strikeouts.
     Denville's next game is a 1:30 p.m. game against Rockaway Township National on Saturday, July 10, at Peterson Field #2.
