DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 50th goal of the season and Matt Szwagulinski scored twice when the Denville Blue Knights Mites ice hockey team defeated the Morristown Junior Colonials, 5-2, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League C-Division semifinal game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
Denville will now face the Long Hill Junior Warriors for the division playoff championship on Sunday, March 13, at 2:30 p.m. at Mennen.
Chris Armelino scored unassisted for the only goal of the first period to give Denville a 1-0 lead.
Moskowitz reached the 50-goal plateau for the season when he scored unassisted early in the second period. Szwagulinski scored the next two goals - both with assists from Gehrig Eckoff - before Morristown got its first goal to cut the Denville lead to 4-1.
Andrew Ryan scored unassisted early in the third period to give Denville a 5-0 and Morristown scored it second goal to complete the scoring for the day.
Brandon Sola played a solid game in goal for the Blue Knights and got plenty of help from defenders Evan Dec, Jack Robson, Matt Szwagulinski, Moskowitz and Eckoff.

Szwagulinski scores twice in loss to Roxbury
DENVILLE - The Denville PAL Mites ice hockey team lost its final regular-season game of the 2010-11 season when it dropped a 4-2 decision to Roxbury in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, March 5, 2011.
Roxbury scored a goal in each of the three periods and held a 3-0 lead until Matt Szwagulinski scored both of Denville goals - the last with 20 seconds left in the game - late in the third period.
Denville will play a post-season playoff game on Saturday, March 12, at 9 a.m. against Morristown's Junior Colonials at Mennen.

Moskowitz nets 49th goal in 5-1 loss to Jefferson
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz' 49th goal of the season was the only score of the day for the Denville PAL Mites hockey team in a 5-1 loss to Jefferson in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Friday, Feb. 26, 2011.
Moskowitz' goal held up through two periods before Jefferson broke loose and scored all five of its goals in the final period of play.
Brandon Sola was in goal for Denville and he finished he game with 20 saves. Denville put only eight shots on the Jefferson goal.
Denville (7-9-1) plays its final regular-season game on Saturday, March 5, against Roxbury at Mennen at 12:30 p.m.

Moskowitz gets 47th, 48th in 5-2 loss to Randolph
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 47th and 48th goals of the season when the Denville PAL Mites ice hockey team lost a 5-2 decision to Randolph in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011.
Denville (7-8-1) got strong goaltending from Matt Szwagulinski and solid defensive play from Gehrig Eckoff, Evan Dec, Jack Robson and Moskowitz throughout the game.
The Mites hope to get back on the winning track with a 6:15 p.m. game against Jefferson on Friday, Feb. 15, at Mennen.

Moskowitz, McPahil score goals in 4-2 loss to Hanover
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 46th goal of the season and Matt McPahil scored his first goal of the season when the Denville PAL Mites ice hockey team lost a 4-2 decision to Hanover in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011.
The loss brought the Mites record to 7-7-1 for the season.

Moskowitz, Sola spark 5-0 victory
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 43rd, 44th and 45th goals of the season and Brandon Sola turned aside every shot he saw for the shutout when the Denville PAL Mites hockey team beat Watchung Hills, 5-0, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011.
After a scoreless first period, Danny Dreisbach opened a three-goal second period when he scored unassisted for his third goal of the season.
Andrew Ryan followed with his first goal of the season, getting an assist from Dreisbach, and Moskowitz scored the first of his three goals with an assist from Tyler Schnuriger to give Denville a 3-0 lead after two periods.
Denville (6-6-1) added two more goals - both by Moskowitz and both unassisted - to close out the scoring. and now has 45 in Denville's 13 games. The hat trick for Moskowitz was his 12th of the season.
Sola was flawless in goal for Denville and got plenty of help from defenders Jack Robson, Gehrig Eckoff, Evan Dec and Moskowitz in recording the shutout.
Denville's next game is a 6:15 p.m. game against Hanover on Friday, Feb. 11, at Mennen.

Denville Mites suffer first shutout of season
DENVILLE - The Denville Blue Knights mites hockey team suffered its first shutout of the season on Saturday, Feb. 5, when it lost a 7-0 decision to Chatham in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township.
The game also marked the first time in 12 games that Jason Moskowitz - who has 42 goals and 11 hat tricks for the season - was held without a goal.

DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored three goals - one in each period - for his 11 hat trick of the season when the Denville Mites ice hockey team defeated Long Valley, 3-0, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011.
Matt Szwagulinski stopped all 10 shots he faced for his - and the team's - first shutout of the season.
Moskowitz scored his first goal with 33 seconds in the first period before to give Denville (6-5-1) a lead it never lost. Moskowitz now has 42 goals for the season.
Denville goes after its seventh win on Saturday, Feb. 5, when it faces Chatham in an 11:30 a.m. game at Mennen.

Moskowitz 10th hat trick helps beat Ridge, 6-2
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 10th three-goal hat trick of the season when the Denville PAL Blue Knight Mites broke open a close game with a four-goal flurry in the third period to defeat Basking Ridge, 6-2, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011.
The victory put the Blue Knights at the .500 mark with a record of 5-5-1.
Basking Ridge opened the scoring in the first period but Moskowitz and Matt Swagulinski - his first of the season - came back with goals to give Denville a 2-1 lead after the first period of play.
After a scoreless second period, Swagulinski and Moskowitz scored in the third period to give Denville a 4-1 lead and, after Basking Ridge scored its second goal of the game, Chris Armelino scored his third goal of the season and Moskowitz notched his 39th goal of the season to complete his hat trick and end the scoring for the day.
Brandon Sola played a strong game in goal for Denville and finished by stopping 19 of the 21 shots he faced. Morris Knolls put 28 shots on the Basking Ridge goal.
The next game for the Blue Knights is a 1:45-p.m. contest at Mennen against Long Valley on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Moskowitz scores three in 5-2 victory over JCHL
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored three goals and Dante Tironi and Gehrig Eckoff each scored one when the Denville Blue Knight Mites beat the JCHL Mites, 5-2, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011.
The victory put Denville one game away from the break-even mark at 4-5-1.
JCHL scored the game's first goal but Moskowitz answered with a pair of goals of his own to give Denville a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
Moskowitz completed his hat trick - his ninth of the season - to give Denville a 3-1 lead early in the second period. Tironi scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Danny Dreisbach and JCHL scored the final goal of the period to cut Denville's lead to 4-2 going into the final period.
Eckoff scored the only goal of the third period; it was his second goal of the season and came on assists from Brandon Sola and Moskowitz.
Matt Swagulinksi was in goal for the Blue Knights and finished with 13 saves.

Moskowitz nets 3 goals in 9-4 loss to Harding-Madison
DENVILLE - The Denville Blue Knight Mites and Harding-Madison were in a tight 3-3 game early in the second period when Harding-Madison's offense kicked it up a notch by scoring the six of the last seven goals in the game to hand Denville a 9-4 defeat in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Sunday, Dec. 19.
Jason Moskowitz scored three unassisted goals - his 26th, 27th and 28th of the season for his seventh hat trick - and Chris Armelino scored his second goal of the season with an assist from Moskowitz to provide the Blue Knights (3-4-1) with their scoring.
Brandon Sola was in goal for Denville and he finished with 16 saves. The Blue Knights finished the game with 10 shots on goal.
The Blue Knights don't play again until Friday, Jan. 7, when they meet Rockaway Township in a 6:15 p.m. game at Mennen.

Moskowitz scores both goal in 8-2 loss to Chatham
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz' two goals - his 27th and 28th goals of the season - in the final four minutes of the game were the only scores for the Denville PAL Blue Knights Mites hockey team in an 8-2 loss to Chatham in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena on Saturday, Dec. 11.
The game was close after one period with Chatham holding a 1-0 lead, but Chatham broke out with five goals in the second period to take a 6-0 edge into the final period of play.
Moskowitz scored his first goal on an assist from Owen O'Hara and then added his second goal a minute later on assists from Tyler Schnuriger and Chris Armelino.
Denville's next scheduled game is set for Sunday, Dec. 19, a 7:15 a.m. game against Harding-Madison at Mennen.

Knights beat Long Valley on Moskowitz' 7 goals
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored seven goals and Danny Dreisbach had two goals and an assist when the Denville PAL Blue Knights Mites travel hockey team beat Long Valley, 9-4, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, Nov. 27.
The win was the second straight for the Blue Knights as they improved their record to 2-3-1.
Moskowitz, who has now scored 25 goals and five hat tricks in the Knights' first six games, scored all four Denville goals in the first period when the Blue Knights took a 4-1 lead,
Dreisbach scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Matt McPahil and Moskowitz added his fifth goal of the game to offset two Long Valley goals when the Blue Knights took a 6-3 lead into the final period.
Moskowitz scored his sixth and seventh goals of the game and Dreisbach got his second goal of the game - again, with an assist from McPahil - in the third period.
Brandon Sola was in goal for the Blue Knights and finished the game with nine saves.
The next game for the Blue Knights is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4, against Roxbury at 12:30 p.m. at Mennen.

Blue Knights win first game of season, 5-4
DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season and Gehrig Eckoff, Bryan McCarter and Brandon Sola each scored their first goals of the season when the Denville PAL Blue Knights travel hockey Mites Division team edged Long Hill, 5-4, in a Morris County Youth Hockey League game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, Nov. 20.
The victory was the first of the season for the Blue Knights, who had tied one game and lost three in their first four games.
Eckoff opened the scoring for Denville, taking a pass from Nick Balara for his goal; McCarter followed with an unassisted goal; and Sola scored with assists from Moskowitz and Evan Dec.
Moskowitz scored the final two goals for the Blue Knights, scoring the first goal unassisted and the second with assists from Eckoff and Sola.
Matt Szwagulinski was in goal for the entire game for the Knights and he shut down Long Hill in the final period to preserve the victory.
The Blue Knights face Long Valley on Saturday, Nov. 27, in a 1:45 p.m. game at Mennen.

DENVILLE - Jason Moskowitz scored his fourth three-goal hat trick in as many games and Chris Armelino scored his first goal of the season when the Denville PAL Blue Knights Mites skated to a 4-4 tie with Jefferson in a Morris County Youth Hockey League season game at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Friday, Nov. 12.
Armelino scored in the first period and Moskowitz scored twice in the second period and added the game-tying goal in the third period to complete the scoring for the Blue Knights. All four goals were unassisted.
Moskowitz has now scored 16 goals in the first four games for the Blue Knights, who improved their season record to 0-3-1 with the tie.
Matt Szwagulinski was in goal for the entire game for Denville, which finished the game with 11 shots on goal.
The next game for the Blue Knights Mites squad is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20, at Mennen at 2:15 p.m.

The loss was the third in as many games for the Blue Knights.
Moskowitz' three-goal hat trick marked the third straight game in which he has scored at least three games. Moskowitz now has 13 goals for the season.

Blue Knights open season with 9-6 loss to Chatham-2
DENVILLE - The Denville PAL Blue Knights mites travel hockey team opened play in the Morris County Youth Hockey League's 2010-11 season with an 9-6 loss to Chatham-2 in a game played at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Jason Moskowitz scored five goals - included three in a span of 90 seconds in the second period - and Dustin Tironi added one goal to account for the Blue Knights scoring.
Denville finished with 15 shots on goal.
The Blue Knights next game in the mites division is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29, against Hanover at Mennen Arena.
