Game Day: The Denville Blue Angels compete in the Morris County Youth Football League on the varsity, junior varsity and peewee levels. The program also fields super peewee, clinic, pre-clinic and flag teams.

Five Blue Angels score TDs
in 40-6 win over Hopatcong

     DENVILLE - Five different Blue Angels scored touchdowns as the Denville varsity defeated Hopatcong, 40-6, in a Morris County Youth Football League game played at Gardner Field on Saturday, Sept. 18.
     Art Kortoci scored two touchdowns while picked up 47 yards rushing; John Scalera, who led the team in rushing with 142 yards, scored one TD; Luke Luzzi scored a TD and finished with 51 yards rushing; Nick Rella scored a TD and finished with 11 yards rushing; and linebacker Sean Lorenz not only had the team's first interception of the season, but he also returned it 83 yards for a touchdown.
     Kicker Nathan Eluemunor kicked two 2-point extra points to round out the scoring for the Blue Angels.
    On defense, Chris Rupp, Kortoci, Rella and Lorenz each had a team-leading four tackles and Matt Stark, Michael Nigro, John Scalera and Luzzi each finished with three tackles.
     The Blue Angels are 2-0 and in first place in the Morris Division of the American Conference of the MCYFL. Boonton-Mountain Lakes, Hackettstown and Parsippany Hills are each 1-1 and Newton is 0-1.

Luzzi, Rella each score 2 TDs in 36-0 victory

       DENVILLE - Luke Luzzi and Nick Rella each scored two touchdowns as the Denville Blue Angels varsity squad opened its Morris County Youth Football season with a convincing 36-0 victory over Lenape Valley at Junior Patriots Field in Stanhope on Sunday, Sept. 12.
      Luzzi scored on runs of 10 and 14 yards while Rella scored on a 4-yard run up the middle and later added a second TD when he caught a pass from quarterback Danny Taylor that turned into a 38-yard scoring play.
      John Scalera also scored a touchdown for the Blue Angels, going over on a run from five yards out.
       Nathan Eluemunor, playing in his first tackle football game, added six more points to the Blue Angels' cause by going 3-for-4 on two-point conversion kicks.
      Art Kortoci and Chris Rupp led Denville's defensive charge as Kortoci finished with 10 tackles and Rupp added eight to help keep the Patriots off the scoreboard for the entire game.
