lead Denville to 13-3 win

DENVILLE - Ryan Chegwidden pitched a six-hitter and Alex Borowiec had three hits when the Denville 13s All-Stars defeated Mount Olive, 13-3 in an opening-round game in the Babe Ruth District One Tournament played at Oak Meadows Field in Rockaway Township on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
Chegwidden allowed three runs (only one was earned) and struck out three in a five-inning game shortened by the tournament's five-inning, 10-run mercy rule.
Borowiec led Denville's 11-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with a double. Dillon Sinegra, Brian Chegwidden and Ryan Washington each had two hits with Sinegra gong 2-for-3; Brian Chegwidden finishing 2-for-4 with a double; and Washington going 2-for-3 with a double.
Matt Tavarone was 1-for-1, a double; and Tyler Brosius finished 1-for-2.
Denville's second game in the tournament is scheduled for 6 p.m. against Morristown at Peterson Field on Thursday, July 30.
